Genesis Gold Part 2

Slow but sure, now it's just a battle with myself to see how close I can make this one look to what was essentially a barn find.
The opposite of my situation. Mine started the same and wanted to see how different I could make it. Not sure what route I will go with the other twin.

I already know your build will turn out fantastic! You won't settle for less and I appreciate that

Beautiful spring day here, sunny and 61°. I dragged this outside to start on the cook box. I'm not going to lie, I really do hate this part of the job. Results after burning through one 4 amp hour battery. Probably good enough for a grill I'm going to cook on anyway, but I'll work on it a little more.IMG_20250412_164449780_HDR.jpg

I put down lawn fertilizer :D

I have tru-green for that. I figured out a long time ago that I can't even buy the fertilizer for what they charge. I think they come out five times a year.
I used to have TruGreen for something else, they were so absolutely awful, careless and stupid it was beyond belief. I'll buy a bag of Scotts high end stuff, for $50 and have my grandson help. Besides, I have the Kubota and it's a HUGE help. I had them for mosquito control about 3 or 4 years ago. You woulda thought you were in the North Woods at my house. Walk outside and the dinner bell rang. They'd carry you in their beaks up to the nests and suck you dry.
Anyway I hired them. What an absolute waste of hundreds of $$. I'd call, complain we still get bit, "oh it's gnats" we don't control gnats unless you get the "optional gnat service" so I got that. Still chewed to shreds. Called again and they had a different excuse and optional service. Then we were doing a bible study one evening at our friend's house. We should have been chewed alive. Not a one. So I asked him who he used. He pulls out a blue hose end sprayer bottle from Bayer that was like $30. Proudly telling us he did it himself.
So, I bought the Bayer and did it myself. No gnats, no skeeters, no biting flies, nothing. Done with commercial companies.
I also have my AgriFab pull behind sprayer. I'll mix up Nitrogen compound (all natural) or if needed pesticide and all works just fine. Much cheaper and I did it so it's done "right". Not the neighbor's and then I get charged as with TruGreen

I just have them do my lawn and I'm pretty happy with that. When the mosquitoes get to be a problem they come around in trucks and spray for them. I don't know if it's my town specifically that does it or some kind of mosquito district. It's great that you're able to take care of your problem yourself though.

Started on the frame today as well. This is the worst of the visible rust, it's on top of the frame. I don't know what else I can do to this spot so that it won't be noticeable after I paint it. If it wasn't next to the cook box I would bondo it.IMG_20250412_181858197~2.jpg

I use JB Weld high-temp as a filler in cases like this. It grinds / sands back down to level pretty easily and then I hit it with a high-heat primer prior to top cop paint.

Tom:
I have found that it is impossible to save that High Temp JB weld. Even if i seal it up good, the next time I go to use it, it is hard as a rock.

I've had mixed results with that in the past which I think was due to it being an old tube and too dry to adhere properly. I might give it another try though, thanks Tom.
