Slow but sure, now it's just a battle with myself to see how close I can make this one look to what was essentially a barn find.Wow I'm wayyy behind on your build Steve. Been busy on mine over the last 2 days. Looks like it's going good!
The opposite of my situation. Mine started the same and wanted to see how different I could make it. Not sure what route I will go with the other twin.Slow but sure, now it's just a battle with myself to see how close I can make this one look to what was essentially a barn find.
Yeah, apples and oranges builds. This one is definitely a character builder so to speak. The opposite of my situation. Mine started the same and wanted to see how different I could make it. Not sure what route I will go with the other twin.
I already know your build will turn out fantastic! You won't settle for less and I appreciate that
I put down lawn fertilizerBeautiful spring day here, sunny and 61°. I dragged this outside to start on the cook box. I'm not going to lie, I really do hate this part of the job. Results after burning through one 4 amp hour battery. Probably good enough for a grill I'm going to cook on anyway, but I'll work on it a little more.View attachment 110730

I have tru-green for that. I figured out a long time ago that I can't even buy the fertilizer for what they charge. I think they come out five times a year.I put down lawn fertilizer![]()
Of course this one was really bad to begin with and my back is barking at me now. I think I'm going to address the bowing out issue before I put any more effort into getting it super clean.Looking great Steve!
Smart! Maybe post some tips and tricks in case I ever need to un-bow/straighten a cookboxOf course this one was really bad to begin with and my back is barking at me now. I think I'm going to address the bowing out issue before I put any more effort into getting it super clean.
I used to have TruGreen for something else, they were so absolutely awful, careless and stupid it was beyond belief. I'll buy a bag of Scotts high end stuff, for $50 and have my grandson help. Besides, I have the Kubota and it's a HUGE help. I had them for mosquito control about 3 or 4 years ago. You woulda thought you were in the North Woods at my house. Walk outside and the dinner bell rang. They'd carry you in their beaks up to the nests and suck you dry.I have tru-green for that. I use JB Weld high-temp as a filler in cases like this. It grinds / sands back down to level pretty easily and then I hit it with a high-heat primer prior to top cop paint.Started on the frame today as well. This is the worst of the visible rust, it's on top of the frame. I don't know what else I can do to this spot so that it won't be noticeable after I paint it. If it wasn't next to the cook box I would bondo it.View attachment 110745
I've had mixed results with that in the past which I think was due to it being an old tube and too dry to adhere properly. I might give it another try though, thanks Tom.I use JB Weld high-temp as a filler in cases like this.
