Genesis 4/5 Restore

I also like to go over my wood with air compressor after finish sanding to get tiny specs of dust out of the wood pours. You can see the difference and not trap that dust under the stain. Tack rag is recommended but I find it doesn't work as well
I learned to use a vacuum indoors to get the same result when I refinished oak butcher block counters at my son's. Tack cloths seemed to just push material around and left a lot behind.

All good practices. I am not finishing these with any kind of urethane or glossy coating, It is just your basic deck stain, so I am not overly concerned with a few dust particles infiltrating my operation. But, I did blow them off with the air compressor as Josh suggested and did notice it blowing away a layer of dust when I did so.

I just did the 4 serving tray handles so far. I want to do them and see how everything turns out. I did also use a combo of the orbital sander and hand sanding as well as both 150 and 240 grit paper. I may try to work a way to stain these indoors. I will keep you posted.

Sounds like it's going great!

Bruce I think that will look fantastic in a fresh clean cookbox. Excellent contrast with the Aluminum. A lot of us love high quality SS but I think this will Sell very well.

I am still pretty sure I will be putting SS solid rod grates in it. I will just have to cut one side down to size to fit the smokenchips.

I definitely would on a keeper and your buyer will most likely appreciate SS and if not you will probably still have these grates.

If I was your buyer I would want SS if I was planning on using the grill and if I wasn't planning on ever using it I would want original equipment stamped or Weber 9930s.

Always hard to say what the buyer will want for sure.

True. I don't find a lot of "collector" type guys around here. Even if they want something a little special, they want it to use it. So, that leads me to believe the SS grates would be a good choice. I could drop in a set of 9MM ones too for this special build instead of the normal 7mm ones for flippers.

I think that'll be a big win!

If it’s the right customer for the right money, anything goes!

OK quick and minor update. I can't do work outside yet due to the temps, so I decided to start on the wood which I can paint inside easy enough. I decided to start on the wood handles on the two serving trays. I painted all 4 but only put one together since the other one requires repainting of the black trim pieces before they are ready to put back together. But, here is the tray that didn't need the trim painted. I think the stain that I bought will be perfect for the wood slats as well. And I intend to do them a little at time indoors. But, due to the brackets needing repainting, I can't really finish them up until this spring.

Here is one complete serving tray.

Yah, not much word done really, but it was important to know that the stain I have will work out. I will slowly start work on the slats next.

Josh, remind me later this spring and maybe we can work something out.

Bruce,
What is the reason you have two worktables? When I saw the original pic it looked like that grill had a side burner. Sorry coming in so late to the game?
