Friday night tri tip(s)

Cooked up a couple tri tips for dinner tonight. Seasoned with equal parts of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Started indirect using a full chimney of coals for about 40 minutes turning once. Should've checked them sooner as they got a little more done than desired. Finished up with a quick sear and let em rest about 10 minutes before slicing.

Nice cook Russell. I too use the firebricks and they work really well. If you have a 3rd, you can make a triangle in the middle and have a firebrick vortex.
 
I like that Firebrick vortex concept. You got to get us pics in action ChuckO.

Here's a four brick, I prefer the three brick (couldn't find) as the three brick runs a little less hot
