It took about 2 months of working on it on the weekends, but she’s finally finished. Couldn’t have done it without all the help on this forum. Had a local guy sandblast the end caps and firebox. Firebox sprayed with Stove bright Satin. End caps sprayed with rustoleum ultra. All hardware replaced with stainless steel. Lubed up the gas valves. Cut/stained all new pieces of cedar. Handle was original from another genesis just sanded and stained it. New casters and wheels. Flavor bars and cooking grates from RCplanebuyer.

That's one beautiful brunette! I think the only problem is going to be breaking down and putting the first steaks on it. But, hey, that's what she was made for. Thanks for sharing your excellent workmanship.

If you haven't already, be sure to add the tag for this to be included in our gas grill restoration sticky.

Nice job on it. You did more than stain on that wood though unless it was wet when you photographed it

Looks awesome. I did a similar restoration with my Skyline earlier this year. The dark stained and glossy cedar looks good with black grill. This was originally a 3000 but I decided not to use the side burner. And I went for the easy option and used a wire basket instead of slats at the bottom. Staining and coating the slats for the tables already took way too long for my patience. lol

Pretty sure the Skylines only came with Durawood as well.
Switching over to real wood is a big improvement in the WOW factor.

That looks great.
