Every month our family does a grilling throwdown. This month's throwdown is Potatoes, so I decided to do some scalloped potatoes in my 9" CI.
Not much goes better with scalloped potatoes than a sauced fatty. I also made some mac and cheese so I could have some later in the week.
Here's some pictures.
The 26" is amazing for making sides in the cast iron. Unlike the 21" you don't need to spin the pans to keep the sides from burning.
Gave this a try tonight. Not bad.
After an hour into the cook I removed the aluminum foil.
The fatty is cooking nicely on the Performer. Notice I remembered to make an aluminum foil grease catcher for under the fatty.
Time for some KC Masterpiece.
The mac n cheese uncovered.
Here's the end results with the potatoes highlighted for the family throwdown.
If you want to keep grilling all year start a monthly throwdown with your family and friends.
A little family competition is a good thing.
