Yeah, I wouldn't mind taking a crack at one of those myself. They are absolutely beautiful grillsNice find! I have my eye on a first gen. Summit by me. I may put in an offer.
I'm considering putting in an offer on one. I feel like the seller is ready to let it go.Yeah, I wouldn't mind taking a crack at one of those myself. They are absolutely beautiful grills

I like this one better myself, but I hear you on not being in a hurry.
I agree. I'm mostly drooling over the grates on that 6 burner!I like this one better myself, but I hear you on not being in a hurry.
Maybe I could find one with a good cook box but I would still need Jon's help to fix it right to prevent the inevitable. Wouldn't make any sense to me to just use it until it falls apart. It would be a big commitment for sure. With Josh's luck one would think if a summit can be found with a good cookbox, he will find it!

Thank you Jon I really appreciate it! I believe you about how great they are. I've noticed in the Genesis series that the very best ones were built in the very beginning with a slow steady decline generation after generation. Seems like the Summit follows that same pattern. When they first started making these grill they admittedly just wanted to make the best grill they could and weren't worried about the price. Knowing that the quality of the grill will sell itself. Of course over time they found ways to trim down the cost and assembly time and it shows.Josh,
I would be happy to help however I can. These are such wonderful grills, that it makes me sad to think of them being parted out to just keep the grates for a Genesis grill. The 1st Summit was Weber's ultimate grill - at least with a Weber name on it. I would love to see you bring one all the way back! If the cook box front (and maybe the back, too) have just some rust, my stainless reinforcements will still work. If you front is way gone, then maybe not. If you get one, please post some pictures.
