Coffee Beans what's in your grinder ???

That is probably why their French Roast is seems so much different (not shiny and oily) than it used to be some time ago.
Except, I'd have to think if PEET's was behind their FR it would not be so "bad". Honestly they stuff was just not good. Whereas I could see it being them on the House Blend.
Also FWIW, I opened the Cameron's (the beans from Shakopee MN), today. Pretty nice cup, but I have to "dial things in" a bit. And the Breville brewer once again did a nice job. Fully saturated bed. So, I think that as much as I liked that OXO machine for it's ergonomics that damn flat brew basket (or something) is it's "downfall" to me. Which is sad. It has all the makings to be my "perfect" brewer. Nice fit, easy operation, pretty versatile. Just such a disappointment. Because OXO does use a cone basket in their other brewers. Hell, I'd buy their 8 cup except it does not have a "set ahead" feature and I need that for those REALLY early AM's wife or I sometimes have.

Well, so far the Cameron's beans are doing a nice job. Odd thing (I will test again tomorrow) is with these beans the OXO seemed to make a better brew than the Breville. But at $10.99 for 2lbs really not a bad value IMO. I've yet to try them in the espresso machine(s).
Anyone ever heard of these? Breville sent me a courtesy bag (12oz) arrived today. Roasted on date was last Friday. So pretty darn fresh. I looked them up online. Oh BOY are they expensive!

Agreed, with the disclaimer that the only PEET's coffee is the Major Dickason's, and that's only when it goes on sale at Costco.

BTW PEET's is on sale again at Costco. $11.99 per 2lb. Quite honestly this Cameron's at $10.99 per 2lb I think is a better overall value and really is making a fine cup of coffee for me in the OXO. Oddly, this Cameron's seems to be a "sweet spot" coffee for the OXO. It's really turning out a VERY nice cup. I used 67 grams, on the slightly finer side of med grind (at least on the KA grinder's dial), to my normal 40 oz water. And it's turning out one helluva fine cup. Even better than the Breville! And I REALLY thought the Breville was gonna be better.
It has an interesting way it brews as well. Has a large glass "tank" or "kettle". With a large heating element under it. Water gets heated up to a near boil, then a secondary heater and very silent pump kick in and pump the perfectly temp'd water up and over to the shower head.
Takes a bit for the water to get hot, but once hot, the brew cycle goes perfectly within SCA spec. I guess the innovation is rather than heat the water as it's either pumped or moved by simple expansion, the water is fully hot before brewing begins so it stays very stable throughout the cycle. I saw no fluctuation at all in water temp during a cycle. It hits 200 and stays there

Yup! I always hit the coffee aisle at Costco. I live my coffee adventures vicariously through your posts, as we don't have room for all of that brewing equipment and the wife is a tea drinker.

My equipment consists of an Oxo grinder, French Press, Chemex and a Bialetti Moka pot. I do have an old school, (late 70's) La Pavoni Europiccola machine that I used to break out from time to time that Dad bought it when we lived in Naples, (Italy...not Florida ;) ). It's made countless cups of espresso and cappuccino over the years. So much so that the seals have been replaced 3 times. It's really time to have it refurbished, but I've been too lazy, and cheap. I quit drinking cappuccino, and the Bialetti does a fine job for espresso, so I'm not in a terrible hurry...

Well I have to say the Morning Sun and the Metra beans Breville sent me......................well I can't get through them fast enough. Totally awful. If I'd paid what those beans command ($18 for 12oz) I would be so pissed off. Tried them with both the Breville and now the new OXO which arrived yesterday. I tried a small batch brew in the OXO, large batch brews in both the OXO and the Breville, 2 different grinders. They're just totally weak kneed, insipid brews. They taste like restaurant coffee to me (which is to say just totally "blah"). No character. Gonna just switch out to the PEET's I think.

So, had a Costco trip yesterday for some T/Giving things needed, baby supplies and what not. Just opened my last bag of beans so figured I'd grab some more. Right now my favs have been the Cameron's Velvet Moon https://www.cameronscoffee.com/velvet-moon-coffee/ which Costco sells at $10.99 per 2lb or the more widely available Kirkland Signature House Blend. Which had been $10.99 per 2.5lb bag.
Well guess what has happened since my last purchase a few weeks ago?
Costco has raised the price on KS House Blend substantially. To, $13.99 per 2.5lb bag. Which now makes it more expensive than the Cameron's VM by $00.10 per lb.
FWIW I still bought both. Since I think they're both top notch yet reasonably priced products. But was a total shocker to see the huge price increase on KS.
The surprise for me is how much I like the Cameron's and it's nice it's from not too far away likely resulting in my getting a "fresher" product.
Bottom line even though the KS says it's a Medium/Dark roast and Cameron's calls theirs a "Dark Roast", I think the flavor profile seems to show the KS as a slightly darker roasted profile than the Cameron's.
In any case if you're one who prefers that roast profile as I do, I highly recommend them both.

If I had a Costco near me I would try them out. But, I don't. I wish I at either them or a Sams.
I have my sister buy stuff from Sams to ship to me and one of my faves has been a three pound bag of almonds for $10. Been buying them for a couple year snow at that price. I just send her some money to buy me some more but they went up to $11.78. That is nearly an 18% increase. I was in Walmart to buy some groceries yesterday and notice some raised prices. Eggs are well over $3.00 a dozen again for the regular ones. This crap has to stop. Oh, and I bought a container of Maxwell House. Coffee went up again too. I usually buy Folgers but that went up more than Maxwell house.

I guess I should check to see how much Sams Club grill cleaner went up. I have been buying the three packs for 4-5 years at $9.99 a pack. I imagine they are $12.00 now.

There was a Barron's article today that attributed higher coffee prices due to a drought in Brazil, apparently the world's largest coffee producer. I won't link the article since it's behind a pay wall, but I took a screen shot of the part that was available.

I wish I could read the article. But yet again ANOTHER place wants to stick their hand in my pocket to read a stupid article. Totally hate that. Not gonna give them a dime

Hrrm. Thought those were supposed to be no charge for 90 days from publication. Here's the Cliff's Notes:

Winner is the Baratza Encore ESP ($200,) and the best upgrade is the Baratza Sette 270 ($400.)

You have to sign up and then they let you read for a trial period. Thanks for the cliff notes version;-)

Yeah, I don't even want those folks having my email address. Let alone my $$$$ Maybe one day, I'll sell the "collection" and get a nicer Baratza. I see this for sale on Marketplace and I am half intrigued

I bought beans from the local Pete’s coffee shop the other day. It came out of the fresh bin that had to be weighed and bagged. To my surprise my entire house smelled like coffee for 2 days and I had not made coffee yet.

I got these beans roasted in VA, at Costco last week and just tried them. Quite good. Even has the roasted dated. Medium to dark with some nice oily sheen.

They look really nice. Our Costco seems to actually be reducing availability of most everything coffee related. Aisle keeps shrinking though our Sam's has a pretty large selection. But, they don't sell that Cameron's product. Though they do sell another craft roast from WI. that is quite decent though a little "spendier" than Cameron's
