Coffee Beans what's in your grinder ???

Larry, I still have that grinder which you originally bought and am quite happy with it for my needs. I manly use it for grinding the beans I get from Sam's for my cold brew.

Cook's Illustrated tested burr grinders for this issue. A couple of Baratza models came out on top.

NY Times Wirecutter picks Baratza Encore as best grinder overall at $150-ish.

Baratza Virtuoso+ as the upgrade pick.

Oxo Conical as the budget pick.

I do also. One pain is the E01 error whenever beans don't fall into grinding position quite right. I have to unplug and re-plug it in to clear it.

I used to have an OXO conical. MEH quality really. Didn't hold up. But honestly my latest post was about the coffee beans from Verena Street not my grinder(s) which are working quite well. My only comment referring to the grinder was commenting that the Verena beans must be much harder than the others I'd been using

Was at Sam's this afternoon. Walking past the coffee aisle and noticed an orange bag I'd never seen. After checking it out totally convinced to give it a try! Have never seen this ever. Either online or in store. IDK, has anyone seen this before? And the price was DEFINITELY right. $10.88 for 2.5# bag. Sure hoping it's as good or better than Kirkland Signature House Blend

Nice. I even broke out my Breville Precision Brew for last couple days to give it a little "exercise" :D Thanks to the large espresso coil type heater and pump it is fast. The OXO, has a pre-heat cycle. Water in the large glass tank (yep glass because it gets hot), heats to 145-150 or so. Then valve opens up and water flows to secondary heater and pump which then heats to the prescribed brewing temp, and pumps water up and over grind bed. It stops after a bit to "bloom", then starts, then stops again, starts. It repeats this I guess trying to mimic a "pour over". On a 40oz pot it will do that 2X after the initial bloom. Weird but the darn thing makes an incredible cup

That's a low bar ;) 😇 The Kirkland House Blend is not good....

This morning I'm drinking Jacob's Wonderbar from Philz Coffee in SF. Dark roast. Direct pour. Notes of dark chocolate, berry, and smoke.

Edit: This may have been posted already, but since this is a coffee thread, I'll just add that they say that morning coffee reduces risk of heart disease and adds longevity.

So we got THAT going for us

I enjoy it actually better than some pretty high priced stuff I've tried and tossed in the trash because I couldn't stand drinking it. Each their own I guess.
Agreed... some of that pretty high priced stuff isn't that good either. A friend of ours who lives in Hawaii gave me a bag of some type of Kona coffee that she claimed was some of the "best coffee in the world" It smelled like those god-awful hotel filter pods and tasted worse. Into the trash it went. I can't abide weak or off flavored coffee. I'll go without or drink tea before a bad cup of coffee. I try to buy whatever is on sale at Costco. My regulars are Mayorga Cubano, Peet's Major Dickason's & San Francisco Bay French Roast. Sadly, they rarely go on sale.

Forget "on sale" our Costco must think people in Rockford IL are dweebs and red necks because we don't even see those much less get them on sale

Well....that sucks. The Mayorga Cubano is my favorite. Do they sell beer and liquor? The Costco's in the Socialist Republic of Maryland cannot...

Oh, no shortage of beer, liquor, wine and such. Actually some very nice single malts from various companies, and some limited edition bourbons great wine selection too

Not sure where you're located but I drink Mayorga too. The roaster is located 18 mins from my house so I pick it up at their location in Rockville, MD. The Costco here often has it in stock and it's considerably cheaper than retail at the roaster. Last time I checked, the price was like $16 for two lbs at Costco. But that was before Mayorga raised prices. I got into a conversation this morning with a guy on Reddit who said he just bought 2 lbs of Mayorga Muy Macho & 2 lbs of Mayorga Winter Brew for $45 shipped. I pay $59 for the same thing and I have to go pick it up. Only advantage is maybe I get it a bit more fresh.
