Coffee Beans what's in your grinder ???

Just wondering...............Has anyone done a comparison between the Kirkland Columbian Supremo and the Kirkland House Blend? I just bought a bag of each today. Plan is to split it up into vacuum sealed packs of just a few servings each. So Definitely want to do an evaluation

Getting ready to crack this bag open here at the beach house. Have had this Mayorga Cubano roast before. It's dark and good. Local Costco almost always stocks it too. It was on sale last week so I grabbed another bag.

Have not seen it either. Sis just crack a bag of Kirkland Columbian Supremo. Thinking I like House Blend better. I have not tried the Sam's Club version of Columbian Supremo. I may do this on next bag. Not sure so I can compare back to back

That looks good and worth trying but have not seen it at our Costco.
It has a use by date not a roasted on date but now, all of the Costco whole bean varieties do...even the Peet's, which used to have the roasted on date. Realistically, it doesn't matter to me. Seems the only ones now with roasted on date stamps are the pricey local or online roasters.

Decaf here. Cold brewed.
Has anyone found a good decaf?
I don't think the words "good" and "decaf" go together :D Honestly I can't stand the stuff. I get terrible agita from it due to the chemicals used and the process it goes through. And from the many info sheets I have read decaf is a misnomer in that the caffeine is only reduced a couple percent. Just better off consuming less of a really nice cup. Another thing I found out. Dark roasts contain less than light roasts

Agree. Swiss water process or .... the paint stripper ones are a bit ... methylene chloride...
Thanks. Will try. Why is it harder to get good coffee now than it used to be. Price is 5 or more times,

Thankfully both Sam's and Costco have held those prices in check. After all IMO $4.39 or so per lb for darn good coffee (both the Kirkland and Member's Mark Columbian Supremo and the Kirkland House Blend) are right in that area of pricing.

I thought this of interest especially since we like Bustelo's slightly bitter Puerto Rician espresso taste. Seems China has jumped on the coffee train.

Was in Aldi to get a few things and spotted this Sumatra whole bean so I grabbed a bag. I think it was $6.59.
Looks interesting. Trader Joe's likely has the same or similar in a different looking package. Correct picture this time 😄

and...my wife picked up this bag of espresso roast from Wegmans the other day. I'll take half of this bag to the beach house for the Gaggia Brera espresso machine. I brewed a pot this AM to try it and it's very good. I think the bag was about $16 for a 2.5 lb. bag. Competes with the Costco Colombian Supremo.1000000924.jpg

Interesting. Bag says Guatemala though not Sumatra. But you can get some nice beans from Guatemala. Translates out to about $8.80lb which if it's some really nice coffee is not bad at all.
In my search for coffee I always forget Aldi and we have 2 or 3 stores not far.
Coming to the end of my Kirkland Columbian Supremo. If I am out running around today, I might just take a side trip to Aldi and see what pops up. Is that whole bean? Hard to tell in the photo.

Yes. Whole bean. The local Aldis rarely carries whole bean... perhaps because West Chester is a college town?? Not sure. Whereas Trader Joes always has several varieties. They are sister...or should I say, "brother" companies as it relates to Aldi corporate history in Germany.

Dam son.....how much coffee do you drink or grinds you use;-)? I think you must go through a bag 2x-4x as fast as we do. We both drink a 16oz in the morning and the leftover drip or a pot of Mokka in the afternoon and use about 5-6 scoops of coffee grounds a day doing it. I am guessing you use a lot more grinds for the espresso machine?
