Cody's Corner of Random Rehabbing & Shenanigans

I use Gorilla Glue Gel. It comes out very nicely and I put a little dab on each raised circle on the back side. And a few dabs on the areas where they are not present. I dab it down and slowly pull up when I stop squeezing to kind of make a tiny little mountain (I’m sure there’s a better word here) so I know there’s enough glue there to make contact with the surface of the wheel. Including the ones inside the WEBER letters.IMG_9845.jpeg

The best thing you can do while gluing most anything is to keep pressure on it for the duration of the glue’s curing process. This Folgers can full of bolts and random hardware fits the size of the insert perfectly. So I leave that on for about an hour. This particular ring was fairly flat but I’ve done it on a few that weren’t and seems to hold up well.

Right, but I have not paid a whole lot attention to that aspect. I have two in the driveway right now and they both have the gray inserts. I don't think the Golds are the same however. I think they used the whites like the Silvers do.

The platinums all had daisy wheels with a dark gray insert. The one I have is actually like a light gray

*edit* The SS framed platinums is what I was referring to

I'm pretty sure the Silver/Gold/Platinum models all started with the regular wheels and then moved to the Daisy wheels later in the run. Daisy wheels with gray inserts is something I'm pretty sure I've never seen before unless I just haven't payed that much attention.

I agree, the daisy wheels are something that came in later in the Silver/Gold/Platinum era but I looked at photos of my past SS Platinums and they all had the gray daisy inserts. They might be unique to that model. But that I am not sure of.

I don't recall seeing that either. I am pretty sure the SS Genesis Platinum I had used white, but I agree with the comments that a light gray might actually look good if you stick with the "monocoque" look Weber used on these grills.

I posted that pic of my dinner, because I needed to have a good meal for an early morning venture… to Edgerton.

I had sold a quick flip, deep cleaned with replaced burners and bars, and blasted and cleaned up 7mm original Weber grates on a front controlled 3 burner spirit to a guy in Edgerton a couple of weeks ago. I delivered it to his cabin on the River but he wasn’t going to be there for a few days. He messaged me about how happy he was with it and it was just what he wanted. I told him of my hobby (better known here as Weberitis) and he sent me a pic of his old grill and said, if you want to come back you can have this. So I knew I wouldn’t be coming back empty handed.

Yet another beautiful green lid. Solid major rust free frame. Good looking 8101 control panel. Drip pan is toast. Didn’t really look too closely at it but the cookbox looks decent. Shockingly the flimsy side tables aren’t toasted or burnt. May attempt to clean and sell on eBay. But not going to use them on a rehab.

Can someone provide some clarity here, this shares a cookbox and control panel with the early Silver B’s? Frame is different only due to the one cross bar on the bottom and wire racks.

This is the genesis gold from Edgerton that @Steve Hoch posted in the curb alert thread. I did connect with the guy, and told him I would Venmo him $10 to roll it off the curb and I would be there first thing in the morning. He read it but never replied. So I figured I’ve got a sure thing 7 minutes from this one. Gotta swing by, since he went radio silent but hadn’t updated the listing. Got there and it was still there.

Missing one side table and the cookbox bolt rail is literally non-existent for about a 5-6 inch area. The rest of the frame is pretty solid though. The legs look very good. White walls both sides have missing letter pieces. Control panel looks pretty promising and it has a bunch of Weber accessories including a rotisserie on the lower rack. Sideburner looks really nice as well.

My herd while I was trying to thin it, just grew 🤦🏻‍♂️ see: Weberitis; listed above.

Here they are loaded into my Weber van 🤣

Now I have to figure out how to get them out without the wife seeing them 😃
