Burning out my WSM


 
I’ve had to do that a few times, but not with the flame thrower. I’ll have to consider that (the fun factor) next time.
 
So it evens happens to the best of us!

I got it last Thanksgiving. Scrubbed and did a high-heat cook. Will try the flame thrower next time.
 
I've never had that problem turning the mid section over.
That wasn't my problem this time. I cooked, moved the WSM into the garage, leaving the partially filled water pan inside. A week of hot summer days later, with the garage getting into the 95-100*F range, and the mold/mildew took over!
 
Chris, that statement is one of the things that makes me LOVE this place! To paraphrase “ I put it away before cleaning” and that bit me! I doubt there are more than ten members that have not done the same thing! Doing something like that happens after a bog cook all the time! Humanity! That’s it.
 
Burning out my WSM today after mold took up residence inside!

Any excuse to use my flamethrower!!! I use it to start the burn....never thought of using it to clean.
