A GOAT has passed

So as some may know, it's been very hectic and stressful last couple months at least. Between my own possible med issue and my dad failing very fast at over 98 yo.
Sadly he passed last night just before midnight. On a bad note I'll not have him to argue who's better "North Side or South Side" (he was always a south side guy) I was a north side guy (but truly loved both teams).
On a good note, he was comfortable, resting and well cared for. No trauma. So, I am sure my mom, younger sister and my grandparents are all sitting down to a nice dish of Sunday gravy and mostaccioli :D
We're going to try for arrangements on Saturday. So if anyone interested PM me. I'll be happy to relay them.

Larry, sorry for your loss. I'm sure that your Father's dish of gravy and mostaccioli is epic and definitely will be enjoyed by your relatives that have passed.

Not to say we didn't have our issues. There were times we fought tooth and nail. But in the end he always had my back and I'll never forget that about him. In so many ways he walked the faith. Took care of my mom, then my sister, helped me more ways that I can count. Even now I look around, his hand is all over my house. I.E, the decorative borders in my kitchen his work, the paint job going into my basement staircase, his hand on it it.
Circle if life I guess...........................

A funny story about him. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor his 2 brothers enlisted in the navy, the oldest was a submariner on a Guppy class sub in the south Pacific, the middle brother was on an LS in the South Pacific. Both saw LOTS of action against the Japanese.
He tried to follow his brothers. There was no branch of the service who would accept him LOL. Bad eyesight, bum ear, flat feet. They all turned him down and classed him 4F.
What a contrast to during Viet Nam. They tried to take a friend of mine who had Leukemia! But my dad? Nope!

From our family to yours, Larry, we send our condolences. In my humble opinion we members here have been able to forge a tight bond of friendship even if many of us have not met in person. You're especially special, in having met several members and formed personal friendships. But to me you are a genuine friend even though I have not had the privilege of meeting you in person.

May God strengthen you and your Family.

Thank you truly. It's mutual!

I am so sorry for your loss, Larry.
I know this was not unexpected, but as we all learn, no matter if we think we are ready - we're not. 🙁
Sincere condolences.

I get that about your Dad, I had the same sort of thing. Dad finally started to realize at the end that people he thought were trustworthy really were not, and that had really caused problems between us.

Dad was an MP on Okinawa at the end of WW II, and a couple of his brothers served in Europe (one survived Battle of the Bulge.) An honorable generation, and a very very hard act to follow.

Sorry for your loss Larry. Good that he didn't suffer but, even so, I know it isn't easy to say goodbye :(

My dad made it to 94 and passed in his sleep,
