A Behemoth!

I stumbled across this monster and, once again - no - I absolutely am NOT interested. I did think some of you would find it pretty over the top, though. So, I thought I would share:

Another Behemoth!!!

Here's that Summit I have grown to hate:

Just listed for $250. Notably no pictures of the cheap metal cabinet - almost certainly rusted along with legs contributing to the "doors need to be adjusted". As I have said in other places, these grills get you excited as you imagine captaining a stainless "top of the line" Weber starship to bbq galaxies unknown...Then you come back to earth to find that you have a bloated, over-complicated, lug made mostly of cheap metal. A pain to work on, clean or move. Not ever for me! But, that earlier generation Platinum...well, that is a whole different animal and a lot more tempting:

Yeah it's a shame Weber never brought the Summit line to it's true "summit". They just made it more complicated and fancier but not "better"

I cannot see how one propane tank could drive all those different burners.

You weren’t kidding. I thought that it was NG. It would be interesting to know the model number and then look up the owner manual for details.

Just listed for $250.

The other (Orlando) summit is a steal at $322 considering the original cost was $2200. <sarcasm>

I always thought they were cool to have that many burners but then I realize, how often are you having a big party where you need it? Otherwise you are wasting gas and it’s taking longer to heat up.

The listing is down so it must have found a new home.

Hopefully the buyer will do better than I have so far with my Summit shells. I suspect my Summits will wind up as scrap metal and a few salable parts to put a final end to my folly.

Looking at the rust and suspect quality internals of the “Behemoth grill” above I am hard pressed to believe it will see a long life.

Actually Jon, IIRC that grill correctly the innards are of better quality than the Summit with having a 300 series fire box. t's the cabinet they fell down on

NO! I don't have any interest in buying this, (especially for $450), but I thought it would be fun to share yet another monster grill up for sale in my locale. Man, there are some honking big grills out there:

I will admit that I really have no idea what a "Grand Turbo" is, but it is definitely HUGE:eek:!

A Weber Behemoth...

If a $450 "Grand Turbo" - whatever that is - doesn't interest you, how about a $100 Webber Summit 6-burner?

NO! I don't want this, either. I am done with any more current generation Summits. If I ever get time, I may try to do something with all the parts I already have, but I will not put any real money into such a project. If a previous generation Summit Platinum were to come up, well...

Yes its a Ducane but another monster actually looks petty good.

Yeah, if you really did need a big grill, that looks like a sweet deal. I can’t believe that is all the price it will command with all those new stainless parts. Looks to me like it is a half day’s hard cleaning away from looking super nice and worth a good bit more.

It does seem that the resale market for these big stainless monsters is not very strong. I have concluded that even a free or $100 current generation Summit 6-burner would be almost impossible to make any $ flipping. Now if you do want one for yourself you probably can get a big grill, fix it up to work well and be in it for a lot less than the original buyer. Just don’t expect someone else to pay you that for it.

I have a feeling that the typical guy looking for a huge grill like that is likely one who can afford the price tag of a new one.

I can't believe that's all the guy can get for that Ducane either, he must have spent close to that just replacing the innards. Funny thing is I live in Woodstock that grill might even be in my neighborhood.

I think actually Grand Turbo is made by a company called Barbecues Galore. It is on BBQGuys.com. They seem to like it, but nothing stood out in what I briefly read except the size and the all-stainless construction.

They're only a dealer of it. It's made by a company in Taiwan called Grand Hall. That model used to also be sold at Sam's as the Member's Mark Professional. They are really good grills. All 304 SS, built like tanks. That Ducane in it's day was also a nice grill. It too was 304SS and built like a tank. But Weber dumped the name and support for them like a hot potato
But that Grand Hall was built FAR better than anything Weber put out in that size range. Heck even that Ducane was better built than their newer generation Summit models

So I assume this would be an example of the junk Weber put out. After seeing the comments here I'm curious about the inside of the cabinet and firebox.

Check out this Stainless steel Weber summit platinum grill for $75 on OfferUp https://offerup.co/cHXJLuD2nR

No, I DO like that model. First the 304 stainless frame (available only for two years) and cabinetry, in my book, puts it way ahead of grills with painted steel cabinetry and frames. Then, this model is not an overweight over complicated beast like the current version. I like to describe this one as a”stretch” Genesis. I would grab a Platinum for $75 if it were near me. The one big issue is the firebox. Some have found them to be rusted through, but others have encountered ones with a stainless front. Even if this one is not stainless it could be retrofitted.
