$5.58 Tri Tip

ChuckO

TVWBB 1-Star Olympian
First time seeing it < $8
Dry Brined 30+ hours
On the WSK @ 400 for 22 minutes (yeah, I probably could have pulled it sooner, but I start hitting the adult beverages pretty early, so my timing is a tad wharped)
I’m quite happy with it

Perfecto, ChuckO!! A most EXCELLENT choice for the 21st!
TT is now up to $14.99 (well trimmed) in these parts.... on sale at limited joints for 10 bucks (UNtrimmed).

$5.58 is a great price, especially nowadays! The cheapest I’ve ever seen was $7.99 and that was a few years ago. I buy pretty well trimmed prime ones at Wild Fork for $9.99 these days. I was in a Wegman’s supermarket last month, they wanted $21.99/lb for choice! I don’t think so…

I am stoked to see you Jim, i hope to see many posts from you. Life is short, and the BBQ world ( entire world ) is a much better place with you in it
geez louis Chuck... thanks man. I appreciate you!

I'm around, just not as much as before.

Raley's has untrimmed for $5.97 this week. They are mostly Sacramento CA area.

I've found Raley's leaves a lot of fat on the roast, sometimes 30% by weight.

Smoking one for us, one for my neighbor.

Cool smoke for a couple of hours using a mix of pecan and cherry

The Wegman's prices for beef are insane - especially for try tip. Granted, it's certified Angus, but the quality isn't what it used to be. They used to be beautifully marbled.
