$5 Porterhouse

Smiths, a local grocer, had bone-in strip steaks for sale for $4.77/lb. I went to re-up today since it's the last day of the sale & they had T-bones (porterhouse) on sale too at that price so I got a few of them.

It's been a while since I've made twice-baked potatoes so I made them too. I baked 5 spuds at 425F for ~1 hour, cut in half & waited 10 minutes, then scooped them (leave 1/4"), then mixed with 1/2 stick of butter, a splash of buttermilk, SPOG from a jar, ~3T sour cream, a lil more salt, then 8 oz extra-sharp cheddar (saved some for the top). Back into the oven for ~10 minutes.

....a neighbor called to make sure I was OK (smoke above house....no it was just steam from my furnace) so I tortured her with some pics of my grill.

I saved a little for tomorrow's lunch:

Dynamite cook Clint. That combo of Porterhouse and twice baked potato just rocks. Heck of a buy on that meat also.

I picked up a great “deal” CAB porterhouse the other day and was sorely disappointed, tough, dry and not very “meaty”.
Normally these have been pretty decent, that one was just a dud. I know, it happens. Win some, lose some.

I have yet to be disappointed with a porterhouse. I've had a couple tough t-bones but PH is pretty much my favorite.
