But this cook was a little different. cause I normally can go 12-15 hours on a cook and it would just be running out but there wouldnt be ash to the top of the coal grate. BBQ Guru help - test run won't hold temps under 285F

you can always control with the top vent too. I notice on windy days. I keep the Viper Blower 50% and my top vent about 50% (all other vents closed) and it will stay on target better. We live with a open field in the backyard and we get pretty bad wind. (one of these days I'll build a stone wall...

    Beer can chicken

I took a Aluminum (hard bottle) beer can cut it down to fit the stands I have, I then add spices/juices to it and I cooked 2 this way and the water when I pulled the cans out were still faintly boiling. So to me boiling water up inside a birds a hole with spices has to be doing something! LOL

    Silicone covers for probe leads?

I know I'm digging up a old thread but I just came across it and got to thinking that the silicone fuel line used for R/C cars would probably work and keep the heat/moisture from damaging the probe wires. I'm going to pick some up and try it cause I'm on my second set of probes for the Maverick...
