Has anyone used the garage to smoke in?..... avoiding higher winds, cold & rainy weather. Thought about doing this on a concrete garage floor with the garage door about 25% open. This would be an overnite cook ???

Texas BBQ Rub on a Butt ????

I'm going to do a couple butts this weekend and have a question. My first butt cook was the mustard slathered one that came out great. Since then I have purchased both "brisket blend" and original Texas BBQ rubs. Has anyone tried these on butts?

    Stuffed Chicken Thighs

Have never noticed boneless, skinless thighs before. That would be the way to go. Does the bacon crisp ok while smoking..... or do you need to do the extra step to get it crisp. Approx. how long of a cook is this?

    New Book: Weber's Real Grilling

Just "bumped" into this book over the weekend, probably bought it because the pictures were so great......and COSTCO's price seamed reasonable. There are a number of items I want to try right away. It immediately moved to the top of my "grill books owned" (I only have a few though).I wish it...

First smoke went well... got question on where to put WSM

My first smoke went well (2 Pork Butts), put in 9:00 Saturday, took out 1:30 Sunday. The WSM is amazing at holding temps for as long as it does. I have a question though......on what surface to most of the WSM's get used on. Not giving it too much thought, I set it on my deck where the gasser...

Help need to find wood chunks

Bob Q..........I noticed, in an older post that your oak and cherry comes from a cabinet shop. Do you soak the "kiln dried" lumber? Does it burn too quickly?

I just stopped by a Menards (Minnesota's Home Depot)......picked up Kingsford, and a bag of hickory chunks ......but all they had in cherry, apple, etc were tiny little chips. Any idea on where I can find the bigger fist size pieces? (apple.....) We have Home Depot & Lowes......do either carry...

My first ever smoke what to try?

Two butts over a brisket...........I think that nails it down. I had pretty much decided on doing two butts......makes sense to go ahead and put something on the bottom. A swing by Costco is in order. Now all I need to do is figure out when I need to start it for a Saturday late afternoon meal

My first ever smoke what to try?

I like the looks of the boneless chicken idea. We eat alot of boneless chicken already.... I'll end up trying these as well. I remember seeing Royal Oak brand at a Walmart recently....I think it was regular briquets... when it is lump, does the bag say "lump" ?

My first ever smoke what to try?

Wood brings up a question. I've done a fair amount of woodworking in the past and have red & white oak "board scraps" that are well dried ....I also have the same in cherry, maple, and walnut. Could these be cut up and used? Not so sure about the walnut and maple, but what about the rest? It...
