    Took some scrap metal to the dump and came back with this! Just needs flavorizor bars and grates. Clean and flip! Not bad for $8 :)

    18 for $100, only used once! I’ve been doing ribs and Tri tip on 1 to 3, 22 inch kettles for awhile. Fire ban in summer on charcoal so I need to stock up and freeze by mid June to get us through the fall. Looking forward to something new and different! If your near Reno or Sacramento I’ll...

    You could’ve pulled it sooner. I generally run at 225 The other thing may have gotten you to medium is the reverse sear at 4 minutes per side I only do a minute a per side over the hot coals. Was there a fat cap on that or was trimmed off? Shame if it was Ed

    As smoke wood? It’s an oily wood. I’ve been using dead grey dried out pieces for kindling and it’s great for getting the wood stove going. Anyone tried for smoking? It’s smell ok when burning. May have to experiment.

    Snake Method & Smoke

    I always do the snake method on my 22 inch kettles. I also put a small water pan directly over the hot coals, rotate grate and add water as needed.

    Pulled Tri tip

    Years ago for a my wife’s family reunion in Texas. HEB has this pathetic looking Tri tip Next we went I packed 3 nice sized frozen solid from California. Wrapped in towels. In checked luggage. Still frozen solid when unpacked. Smoked and gone that night.
