Manzanita

As smoke wood?

It’s an oily wood. I’ve been using dead grey dried out pieces for kindling and it’s great for getting the wood stove going.

Anyone tried for smoking? It’s smell ok when burning.

May have to experiment.

I used to use the heck out of Manzanita wood on my stick burner. Still use it to this day on the WSM but nowhere near as much as I did in the past.
Mazanita puts off a wonderful almost fruit like subtle smoke. It was my go to on anything pork. Good on beef if mixed with oak.
One thing I would cation is using to much when the wood is still green. It burns super hot! However the smoke is superb compared to the older well seasoned manzanita, which is still good.
Would love to get my hands on more if it. The place I lived before was higher up the hill and I had manzanita on the property. Think I am down to two small logs...
