    St Louis or just Spares?

I get spares and trim them myself. Smoke the trimmings and eat them too!

    Weber 26" vs 22" WSM

If it was me I’d probably get the 18. I have a 22 and have never really “needed” it. Plus it uses and lot more charcoal than an 18.

    Show us your charcoal inventory/stash

I used to buy a couple hundred pounds at a time when it was on sale during Labor Day or Memorial Day. but I haven’t seen any decent sales for the last couple of years.

Any silver and/or gold collectors out there?

I collected all the way up until covid hit. Then prices skyrocketed and I’m still waiting for them to come down. With all the inflation from the “stimulus” packages I’m doubting they will ever come back down to what they were pre covid.

    Just saying thanks!

Yep I love this little project. If it wasn’t for HeaterMeter, I wouldn’t be doing bbq. I was showing it off to a friend of mine the other day and he was really impressed. Much thanks to Bryan and all who have contributed their part.

New Spider Venom Kickstarter temp control for Kettle

It looks cool and I almost backed it, but I just realized I don't really have a use for it. For what grilling I do on it, it does just fine as is. I have a heatermeter for my WSM.

    Using two fans for heatermeter

Maybe this is my problem then? By higher temps I am saying like around 250-260 degrees. I can hold 225-230 or so with the stock fan (yes delta bfb0512vhd ). Typically if I want to go higher than 230 I need to start opening up the other vents in addition to the fan. I am using a fan and damper.

    Using two fans for heatermeter

Hi all. I have a WSM 22.5" smoker and it seems to me that the stock fan can not always handle higher temperatures without me having to go outside and open up some of the side vents in addition to the fan. I was considering using a larger fan. But then I was wondering if it would be possible...

    ? about apple brine recipe

Hi all, Looking to smoke my first turkey this year. I decided I am gong to try the apple brine recipe. Looks somewhat fool proof, however I have a few questions. At the top of the list is this quote from the recipe seems contradictory. Could someone please explain "Do not cover with foil...

    cannot access heatermeter

THank you. I will try that probably tomorrow at this point. The meat is going so I will probably just check on it the old fashioned way until it is done :) As a side note, I tried pinging it and I can successfully ping the IP. For some reason, I just can't access it through my browser...

Hi all, Fired up my HM for the 2nd time this year. Last time worked great. Now I can not connect to it. The IP shows up on my router. When I got to http://heatermeter.com/devices/ The IP shows up, but it times out. Any ideas? Got meat ready to go on! THanks! edit: After some time...

Stages of a hobby (kinda long)

In reading your post, I thought I was reading a biography on myself! I am pretty much the same way. When I first start something I obsess on reading and researching everything. I go hog wild for awhile, then although I might still hold interest, it doesn't consume my time as much. Glad to...

    Heatermeter troubleshooting

All credit for the design of the circuit goes to Bryan Mayland. Thanks to him, many of us have had a fun project and enjoyed the peace of mind knowing that our cooks will be done at a stable temperature. I used mine for the first time last weekend and it worked like a charm!

    Pi Rebooting

Hi all. I think I have one more hurdle to jump. I thought that my HM was working great until I tried to plug in my Pit Probe while plugged in with the power supply. If I have power plugged directly into the Pi, all is fine. However when I plug the HM in with the power supply and plug in the...
