I wish Weber had these features on the WSM....

the rubber handle on the vent of my Performer is killer, that would be nice on all vents, as it is, I use a glove or tongs on the top and my foot on the lower ones. as for the lid I am thinking of hooking up a block and tackle and just grab the rope and PULL pictures to follow

Anyone own these Cast Iron Grill Grates?

the only down side I have is the stock grill can fold up to drop charcoal into the baskets for indirect heat. the grate is easier to remove it all then dump charcoal and replace. with my performer the grill needs to be removed no matter what since you start the charcoal in baskets then either...

I do believe the wire baskets are the stock baskets to light the charcoal with the gas burner. It sure works well. BUT if I am gonna dump them I need to get some channel locks to grab'em, my Lodge gloves can handle the smaller ones but the wire REALLY holds the heat

ok the second charcoal grate for a cross pattern was too much. the wire baskets for lighting off the charcoal are taller, stronger and FIT when the second grill is removed. looks like I need to find some thin expanded metal... both bins are sitting on the performer the wire behind the sheet bins

PP {pre plastic } Performer. I added the second grate in the bottom so small pieces won't fall through and the 2 racks are higher than my cooking grill. not sure if removing one of the grates will be enough. are the two racks not meant to be used with the cooking grill? Also has anyone put a...

    Handles on the coal kettle?

remember that is a WEBER KETTLE that has a center section added, so those handles are from the Kettle itself. most people add 2-4 handles on the center section of WSMs, some add vertical using existing holes, others like me have drilled holes and added horizontal handles {I used garage door...
