Grilled in a sweater today - and it was glorious

The snow isn't quite gone yet around here, but it was warm enough to do some grilling in a sweater. Everybody around here was hungry for some food cooked over charcoal...including this guy who helps himself to food no matter what container it's in. Meanwhile, I had some fingerling potatoes...

    Pok Pok Ribs (Monster Style)

Wow. Just wow. I love the look of that belly with the cross hatches and the crispy skin. I've got a nice Berkshire belly in the freezer, I'm going to pull it out tomorrow and get it ready for the weekend and some five spice love.

    Checking in for a bit

It's going to be a reef...and I'm going to be running LED's on it, I actually bought them before anything else since they were the most expensive part of the build. This picture is looking straight on into the tank, the idea is to use egg crate on the back and put dry rock on it, then use spray...

    Wings and things...

Weather finally broke up here and we've been hovering around 2 degrees which has increased my BBQ desire :) My wife wanted wings, so wings she got! Started with some a Weber "Just Add Juice" which I've never seen around here and was excited to find. Mixed it with some OJ, marmalade, sambal...

    Checking in for a bit

Thanks for your kind words everybody! This is what it looked like as a cichlid tank: And this is what it looked like in October: [/URL] It's 6 feet long, 18" deep and 24" high. I'm converting it to saltwater, but I've done a massive overhaul and removed the plastic trim, made a spray foam...

    My last couple cooks!!

Happy birthday to T-Man and I totally feel you on the cold weather sucking the life out of the outdoor cooking...it's been -30 for a good snap this winter and I just posted my first two cooks in a long time as well. Hopefully the spring comes soon for both of us!

    Checking in for a bit

Hey folks, I've missed you all terribly, almost as much as I've missed cooking on my favourite grill. Life has been busy, and I haven't been cooking much out of doors because we've got lots of snow and it's been -30C for way too long around here. I'm also in the middle of a complete rebuild...

    Canuck Thanksgiving Turkey Magic Time

I did that bird on my performer with a full chimney of lit briqs spread into the two charcoal baskets and placed on either side of the bird...the foil is to deflect the closest points from burning the turkey in that area. I think I'm going to try it on the top grate of the WSM next time without...

    And Little Lambs eat Ivy...

Hey Bob, thanks for keeping some for me. I'll try to make it out to your end of town soon to pick it up and buy you a frosty one. As soon we get the final coat of paint done I'll post a few pics...we're in the home stretch as you can see from the fact that I'm back on the forum and posting...

    Canuck Thanksgiving Turkey Magic Time

I made a 15lb turkey for thanksgiving you guys, here are some pictures. This was after maybe 40 minutes with Maple Leaf Briq's and 2 chunks of Apple Wood. And this was after a quick flip in direction, about 15 minutes before pulling off to rest. And this was how it got plated with way too...

    Thanksgiving practice

This is for true! Everyone complained when I said that we should give my sister a chance to do the bird this year in her new house so I'll be doing the turkey on my performer again next weekend for Canadian Thanksgiving.

    And Little Lambs eat Ivy...

I've been busy renovating our kitchen for the last 8 weeks so I haven't been posting much, or visiting the forum much for that matter. Had some good weather for a change today and the posts with the lamb chops people have been posting gave me a hankering for them so I grabbed some and cooked...

    Sorry, no cook this weekend....

I'm SUPER interested in this build...I'm thinking about going the same route to replace my BBQ Guru, Rasberry Pi's are so cheap and multi-functional. I'm just ordered 3 of them so I can put one on each tv and attempt to do what your son is doing.

A whole Butt load of BUTT!!

I started with mine on the ends in a teepee format, but as the cooked they shrink a bit and fit on the grates lying flat. I don't doubt you got all that on there, I'm just blown away that you got 12lbs more than I had in considering how full mine was at 48lbs. Moral of the story is that the...

A whole Butt load of BUTT!!

I'm really surprised you got 60lbs on that cooker, I did 5 butts that weighed out at 48lbs total in my 18.5 and there is no way I could have gotten another pound on it. Either the size/shape of yours were the perfect fit of your 18.5" or you know magic. Either way, impressive cook...
