I have one of those grill pans that have the raised parts for making grill marks. It is perfect for bacon. The raised parts allow the bacon to drain some and makes the pieces less greasy.
Is there a reason you're not cooking using a camp fire? I've taken to using camp coals in a Smokey Joe when camping. Great flavor from the pecan trees on our farm.
I use Paprika and love it for my ipad. You can enter your own recipes or pull it in directly from cooking websites. It does grocery lists and lets you email the recipe to others. Looks like it does a lot of what you want, like always on screen.

Foil-wrapped potatoes in the coals are always a hit. One thing we started doing for breakfast instead of bacon/eggs was to get one of those cinnamon roll packages and just make that inside a camp oven. Fast and easy to clean up afterward.
I was always nervous about getting a Keurig because I worried that if the company went out of business I'd have a useless coffeemaker. Once I found out there are refillable K Cups I made sure to put one on my wedding registry.
