Your best hand cleaner for the BBQ.

Yea, it's a dirty job, and no matter how hard you try you'll still get greasy, sooty hands from handling the grates, water bowl or charcoal.
Gloves to me are a hassle especially in summertime, so I always keep a jug of this outside in the garage.

I like it because you can use it without water, just wipe your hands off on a shop towel, and it does a fantastic job on grease and grime, and it smells good too.:)
Any one else have a favorite?

I wear my welding gloves when I touch the smoker. It's a good habit to get into, saves burns.

I use them at work a lot, and whatever is handy when handling hot parts on the smoker, but for just a basic start-up those don't have the dexterity that you have with you're bare hands.
And do you have a favorite hand cleaner to add to this discussion?

Tim

The best hand cleaner that I have ever found is made by a little company in Kenner, LA. The company name is M & M of the South. The product is called Snow White. It used to be called Snow Wonder. They don't have a website or sell anywhere online. You have to call them to order it. The owner's name is Mitch Miller, but you can speak to Ray. Their number is 501-466-0840. I just spoke to Ray. I asked him why they don't have an online presence. He said they just sell by word of mouth and referral. It doesn't make sense to me. But, it's their business.

It sounds a little shady, I know. But, it's legit. I started buying it by the case about 15 years ago. I've only had to buy it twice. It's just fantastic stuff. I don't know what they make it out of, but it's not petroleum based. So, your hands won't smell like fuel after you use it. It doesn't dry out your hands either. I think it's even non-toxic.

So, the only downside is that you have call them. And, I think they only sell it by the case. And, it lasts years because you only use a half teaspoon or so each time. It takes me so long to go through a case, I'm always afraid I won't be able to find them the next time I order it.

A case is 3 - 3 lb. tubs. The price of a case is $61.38. Buy a case, and give 2 as Christmas gifts.

If you do buy some, please post back how you like it.

By the way, I'm not affiliated with them in any way. I'm just a faithful and happy customer.

thanks for the tips yall. on a lighter note, something about permatex making soap might wonder if id ever get my hands apart...

don't lift the lid...

I didn't realize you didn't need to rinse it off..... I'm going to get some for the vehicles! I have the large containers under the shop, garage, and kitchen sinks, smaller ones in the bathrooms.

I try to keep these in the work trucks but they always dry up within a few months at best.

I also keep the latex gloves around but depending on the batch or what they're exposed to, some of them will dry up and break when put on.

Well thank's Darren, I've never heard of them but am interested.
I guess the tubs don't have a pump type applicator? No biggie, I could use some of the old ones I have.
So you do like it, but how does it work for really gunked up hands? Besides BBQ hands, I use quite a bit of caulk and anti-seize on the job and that stuff can be a pain to clean off.

Yea, if I'm outside I don't usually rinse them off, just a wipe with a towel. If I go inside and handle food, then I'll rinse.

I'm not sure about those. If I get latex or silicone caulk on my hands, I use mineral spirits. And, I'm not familiar with anti seize material. They do not have pumps. This stuff is dry. You will like it for greasy hands. Not sure what else it might work on.

I don't think Greased Lightening is designed as a hand cleaner, but the stuff is awesome. I've save so many cook stained clothes with it.

I wear gloves a lot and when it does come time to clean my hands, if they're greasy, I use dish soap and water. Never thought of using a hand cleaner.
