WOULD YOU BUY?

My Weber Performer Deluxe 22" is wanting the "Killa Grilla" Stainless Steel Grill, however, it will cost me $115 for the grill and another $110 for shiipping to Costa Rica and the Costa Rican Custom Duties for a total cost of around $225. OUCH! Why am I asking?; I am really leaning towards buying it????

I did buy.
I have the killa grilla on the performer with 1 big door the size of the SNS flip up....this grill will easily outlast this weber and then the next one.
I also picked up the 18" for the jumbo joe at the same time to try and offset some shipping. The shipping for me was insane as well.
My total to get everything to the door was in the 400's of dollars if I remember right.
I did make a whole thread about it, it was very expensive, but I want to believe nothing can compare.

Richard,
You have the SnS easy spin SS grate right now correct? Is it still in good shape? If it is still working well for you I would really have to ask myself do I need it.
I have the two kettles, and one has the Killa Grilla grate and I love it(I also splurged and got one for my smoky joe and love it). The other kettle has the Aura Kettle Zone Cooking System with the SS grates which I equally love. The Aura grate does not have the beefiness of the Killa Grilla grate, but it does an amazing job and as nice as the Killa Grilla grate is I wouldn't say it is that it is a needed upgrade to the my other. I don't know how the SnS SS grate would compare to my Aura grate. If your were upgrading from the standard grate, I would think differently. Now if you have the money and want to spurge, you will not be disappointed by any means by the quality of the Killa Grilla, it is top notch, but if this is a push to cover cost, that is something you will have to decide.

Yes, I do have the excellent SNS Stainless Steel Easy Spin Grate which is still in good shape and spins easily in my WPD. However, very impressed with the Killa Grilla to complement my SNS Plus and probably would be a good addition to my BBQ Arsenal.

,Question, does the Killa Grilla spin easily in the Weber Kettle?

Yes, the BBQ Hobby is much more expensive down-here in Ticoland-Land but I would not trade minute of living somewhere else for the last twenty-two(22) years since being retired.

Thanx to all that replied to this thread and your excellent suggestions!

Check this out around the 5 min to 5:15 min mark, he talks about the "spinability" of the Killa Grilla.
Mike; thanx for the Post and appears that the Killa Grilla is not a "spinner" like the SNS Easy Spin Grate.

My "need" is more of a "want" and my present thinking now is I will not buy the Killa Grilla.

However, if I bought this grate this will be an Item in my BBQ Arsenal that I will use on a regular basis. I estimate that around 90% of the items in my present BBQ Arsenal I do not use on a regular basis. My Weber Performer Deluxe, SNS Plus, SNS DripNGriddle Pan and SNS Easy Spin Grate are used weekly.

My WSM 18"Classic", Weber Smoky Joe, Cajun Bandit Rotisserie, SS Chilie Grill, etc.,etc are only in use 2 or 3 times a year.

How about your present BBQ Arsenal

I love you Richard, you know that you are going to do it, and you come to the most enabling bunch of grill fiends in the world for “counsel”! What a guy!

Well, I have to admit I couldn't swallow that total price with the crazy shipping. However, even if not a "spinner" I can't say enough good about Mark Baron the owner of Killa Grilla and his workmanship. I have three of his kettle grates including the one he makes for classic old "flat top" 26" grills. All of them are THICK heavy REAL stainless. As was noted by Darryl they will easily outlast the kettle you put them in.

I like that he aims to help hobbyists making a number of grates for obscure models. Mark helped me make a custom grate for a very old PK "one vent" grill that fits like a glove and looks - and yes WORKS - like a dream.

I don't know if that will sway your thinking. I am sure the other options will work fine. Best of success on whatever you choose!
