Wife thinks I cook too much at once

I put on 3 3 lb butts and then when I went to add one rack of ribs and 3 beef ribs the missus gave me a hard time! She said she had already planned the menu for the week and she was going to buy the stuff for dinner each day (she has done that for years) and she was miffed that I was cooking more than we needed for 4 of us for dinner, I told her we can freeze it!

Non-BBQ wives!

Keep your head up buddy!
I cook way more than we need but we vacum seal and freeze. Have cool dinners during the week or late night.
She will see it your way sooner or later and before you know it she will come home with lots of beef or pork for you to smoke. :)

Cooking the meals to make her life easier and she complains. Sometimes you can't win. Maybe try telling her to pick the foods each day and then you will grill it. That way you can grill each day and everyone can be happy.

I run into the same thing with my wife. We have so much vacuum sealed leftovers
we will have to make a trip to one of the son's homes soon just so I have room to
store more. :D

I am not sure what these "left overs" are but she will be thanking you when you heat up an awesome midweek meal.

Here's how you sell this: it costs the same amount of charcoal to cook one butt as it does if you fill up the cooker. You're actually saving money by cooking it all at once and freezing it. ...but you do realize that if you break it into individual cooks you get more "cooker time", right? (I like to cook so I don't want TOO many leftovers.)

Ha...Looks good bro! Some times you just have to "shut" off...Just like you do when the vaccum cleaner comes on and there is something "important" on the TV! Just nod...that usually works. Whatever you do...Dont talk back. Then you might hear a story of her sisters new painted livingroom and so on. Just NOD!

Boy, there will be a bunch of husbands in deep s**t if their wives happen to read this post! Fortunately, my beautiful, loving, sweet, kind, gentle, forgiving, and considerate wife doesn't...:)

The pork came out great! Will post a pic in a bit.

Vacuum Seal, that is a great idea! There is a Bass Pro about 3 miles away and they have them

I would starve if not for the cooked frozen food in my house. The wife is a somewhat different eater than myself, so we usually eat different things. So at any given time there is several types of frozen meat in the fridge, usually a brisket or pulled pork. In addition, I made big pots of chili, red beans, spaghetti sauce, gumbo, and lasagna and then freeze in small containers that easily thaw and heat, just make rice or pasta and off I go.

When I smoke there is usually more than the intended target on board, as I will throw on a bag of chicken breasts or somethings else to fill up the grate.......heck, just tell your wife to plan some of those meals around what is in the freezer, how easy is that?......................ck
