I get that it is kind of cool, but it seems to me the value of both items is just ruined.
 
Looks like the WSM is mostly intact if he has the lid somewhere. But yeah that's just flat out stupid. I guess it gives you sort of a 26 WSM.
 
I have seen a couple of those setups on the net. Supposedly gives a person much more top rack room. As long as the mod was done correctly, and person has the money and means to do it I can see the value in it. Just my opinion.
 
Before Weber came out with the 22.5" WSM I seen some mods with a 22.5" kettle on a 18.5" WSM.
IIRC a member on here had a few..
 
I only have the 14" now, sold my 18" WSM a few years ago.
Lowes had an 18" on display when I was there today, man does it now look huge!
The tag actually called it a 19"
