What was that about lipstick and the pig?

The plan was to make Jerk Beef Kabobs. I made this a while back and it was really good. This is a Weber recipe calling for a terrific marinade, Habaneros, basil, scallions, brown sugar, garlic…. you get the idea. I use sirloin for kabobs and try to get nice ones. As this didn’t really have anything else to put on the skewers, the sirloin was cut into 1-1/2” X 1-1/2” squares. My first surprise was the sirloins. After unpacking them, let’s just say they left a lot to be desired. I trimmed off a LOT of fat. The marbling turned out to be more fat. Hey! I’m going to marinade them right?

Somehow I think Buddy knew what was going down and decided he wasn't getting into it.

Another part of the plan was to roast some peppers and grill some asparagus with the dreaded tarragon butter sauce.

Kabobs are on. They look pretty good too.

Done. The peppers are perfect for peeling.

Nancy made some fried green tomatoes and some bread to compliment all this. The sirloin was tough! Tasted great but tough! Did I mention it was tough? This is the first time I’ve been disappointed in the meat from this store so I guess I can’t complain too much. Hopefully I’ll do better the next time.

As Always…. Thanks for looking.

aww, c'mon, tell the butcher what you came across... if you shop there enough, maybe he'll cut you some slack in the form of a 15 buck a pound steak for say... 7 buck a pound.... it's been done. ;)

Rolf, your grillin' looks TERRIFIC! And what I've tasted, it's AWESOME too!
