Weber Emblem Restorations

I once tried to do a full color badge with white lettering and border and a red kettle:

Badge for Skyline Closeup.jpg

It was a LOT of work for this non-artist to get the white part as close to right as I could. I decided then that going forward I would just do the red kettle since, in general, the white isn't that much of a difference from the bright metal. On this Skyline the white did tie in nicely with the white stripes on the Skyline hood.

So I have a weird type of satisfaction out of redoing the emblems. I like different stuff than the plain black and brushed silver. Show us all what you’ve done, whether a stock appearance, something different, products that work, preferred methods, paints, anything Weber emblem related post it here! Here’s a few I’ve done in various stages.
That first one on the left is stunning.

Beautiful. As always. :)

Here's mine. It's my first one. I used 4 different sandpaper grades and finished with 600 grit. It's interesting that the second registered trademark is lower than the rest of the raised logo. I stopped at the first registered trade mark. I went traditional with a black background.inbound2869110254833124162.jpg It should be reinstalled by tomorrow.

I wasn't planning but does it make a noticable difference over a few years? I'm curious, did Weber coat them? I can look for a high heat clear coat at the hardware store. Thanks.
I don't think they were clear coated originally. I end up doing them both ways mostly depending on the mood I'm in. I like the way they look either way.

I have tried the Rustoleum High heat clear coat 2000 degree paint and it turns the bare aluminum almost white. Not a good look IMO.

How could I forget to put this in here!

I have come to like the heavier scratches making it look like more of a brushed look. I finished them with 40 grit on a hard block. The final sanding going the length of the badge a few times in one direction versus the back and forth to level it out.
