We have been getting tired of the cold weather we have had for the last week or so.....

So decided to fix some comfort food on the Weber. Got some bacon started for the Brussel Sprouts,

Brussel Sprouts & onions are in the CI,

warming up the CI with some bacon chunks for the steaks. Myles says "smelling guud & Hurry up"

Floured up some round steak.

Got it cookin'.

Round steak is done & Deb is ready to start the gravy.

Gravy is about done.

And here is your plate of some delicious comfort food. the round steak was spot on and The War Dept's gravy is the best.
We only eat this way a few times a year. So for us it was a special meal. Its the way our folks cooked when we were growing up.
Thanks for looking at our cookin'.

Bring back great memories Russ. That could have been my dinner back in the fifties, looks great and you nailed it.
Nasty looking weather you've got there, I won't mention it's 84* here I promise.

Russ , you and Deb is an awesome job that looks delicious. Hope your weather gets better soon.

Close to chicken fried steak it seems........ I'd eat it no matter what you call it.... We were supposed to get rain & cold but all we got was warm & wind. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Wow Russ, that looks insanely good. If you have a moment, discuss your war dept gravy. Or if there's a link for it

War Dept here, my gravy is pretty easy to do. In the same pan with your dripping from the meat add flour. I usually use what is left over from coating the meat about a 1/4 cup. Season well with salt & pepper.
Stir well, until mixed together. Then add your milk and more seasonings if you want. Continue stirring until thick. Serve over potatoes, bread, rice or noodles. I have to thank Russ' mom for showing me how to make gravy so many years ago. thanks mom.
