That's pretty much what I did last time out. I was able to save the white walls though.Get a parts grill, take off the 8 inch wheels.
Take off the old white walls, after washing and letting the tire dry, spray them with ArmorAll or a good automobile tire shine product.
Then purchase two white walls from Chucks in Canada.
Looks like new 2 feet away.
