Vieluxe 44 Restoration

Unless someone has one in a pile of parts, probably not. What does it look like. I wonder if an ignition system from a Summit or even Genesis grill could be adapted to work on the Vieluxe.

I have the electrodes. Is this the button you used? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072KD2XWF/?tag=tvwb-20

Great to see some sharp detective work source out a part for the Vieluxe that frequently needs replacement. I would love to restore a Vieluxe, but too many projects and not enough time, money or room.

So I really never liked the look of the oem igniter switches and decided to retrofit a lower profile switch. The switch fits and I have to swap the electronics module - perhaps even the electrodes if I can figure out some mounting solution.

Here is what I got (only $12):

Limited-time deal: Barbqtime 66356 Grill Igniter Button for Weber Genesis II 610 Gas Grills (2017+), Igniter Kit for Weber Genesis II E-610, Igniter Replacement for Weber 66356 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMXJ22NS?tag=tvwb-20

I guess "Need gone today" didn't happen. I admit it beckons, but that would be an all-day affair for me and a lot of gas, too. I tend to think everything is probably there in that scrap pile, but this one would be a bit of an iffy proposition compared to the asking $1,100 one also in Wisconsin. It looks to be way better cared for:

Duh- I didn’t realize you guys were talking about a $200 listing in the curb alert thread
Here are my thoughts on both listings:

No one lists whether LP or NG
Both thermometers are obviously more “off” than mine showing ambient at about 2 o’clock (mine shows 5 o’clock and is 150f low)
Both 6 burners - my 4 burner takes a bit longer than my summit 450 to warm up - do u need the extra real estate?

The $1100 vieluxe is missing smoke diffusers ($150 from Dave Santana), probably needs new electrode, rotisserie motor is not oem (if that matters to you), burners & crossovers ok?

The $200 vieluxe obviously needs a cleaning, hard to tell what is missing - flavorizer bars $90 for my 4 burner V, side burner grates (if missing - would you prefer 7mm or 9mm? hehe), smoke diffusers ($150), igniters (maybe $30-50), grates?, burners? (About $150 for Summit burners and crossovers), spit rod shown inside cabinet but can’t see motor

Hope this helps (convince someone to go grab the $200 Vieluxe)
Ray

Thinking about this more… I would forgo 2 grates and drop a full size Weber griddle in their place
How far is it to Wisconsin?

Ray,
That's some very good insights. I think a severely affected with Weberitis person like me wouldn't care whether they needed the space or not. They would just want to have the ultimate Weber unicorn, and in many ways one of the finest grills ever made. That's at least as far as the handmade, all stainless body.

On the other hand, how well does yours really cook? I have heard they of course do fine but it's not like they cook better than a different good Weber, such as the Summits you and I both have. What's your take?
