Using my Maveric 732 for the 1st time

Fantastic, it's 35 degrees outside right now and overnight it was below freezing and I don't have to go outside to check temps on the smoker. The butt went on at 11:00 pm last night and it's 10:45 am now and I've been out there once. Grill temps have been sticking between 215 and 235, went out once to kick the base to get some of the ash off and I'm watching the stall from INSIDE the house. Not bad.

Almost like cheating isn't it?

As I'm on the couch with my remote thermometer,"Dont bother me. Cant you see I'm cooking?"

That 732 is wonderful ain't it?

The only issue I have is that it tends to lose the signal in my house. It was built in the 70's so it can't be that there's too much metal interfering with it.

The beauty of the 732 though is that you can set audible alarms for too high/low temps.

I just leave the unit near a window/near the WSM. That alarm would wake the dead (and is quite irritating when ignored).

I can live with the temps going a bit higher than set but geez, it nags and nags

This thread just cost me $59.00 (with free shipping). I have the E73 model but always unimpressed with the range. I'd be lucky to get 100ft in an open field. Throw wall/door in between and forget about it. I'll likely never need 300ft but I'm sure going to enjoy being on the far side of the house (where I sleep) and still pick up a clear reading. Also means I don't have to put the smoker on the back porch anymore, which will make the wife happy.

My ET-732 broke 6 months after I bought it. The probe that measures the temp at the grate level fell apart and the wires pulled out of the probe, rendering it useless. I had used it a total of 6 times, maybe...

I emailed Maverick and they are going to replace it for free, even though I'm outside of the 90 day warranty period. Yay for them doing the right thing!

Hi Jeff, I'm very lucky in that I live only about 30 minutes away from them and I've gotten a chance to meet them. Great people and as you can see they bend over backwards to help. Glad it worked out for you.

Its a beautiful thing. I use my ET-73 all the time for brisket and butts.

The ET-732 is my #1 accessory above all others, and is way improved over the ET-73. I also had to replace the pit probe. I pulled on the wire which caused it to separate from the probe (operator error). They aren't overly fragile, but I'm still being a bit more careful when I poke the probe through the fixture that holds it at grate level.

I like the remote a lot. In fact I told my wife to check my "wish list" on Amazon for Christmas and got a second one. I hadn't removed it after I got the first one. I was going to send it back but now I can use the second one for the kettle, monitoring resting meat temp and even put the probe in my prime rib in the oven with the alarm.

Count me in too!

No better way to smoke good Q:

The three essentials for football and Q.

I have a Thermapen also. When I insert it right beside the Maverick probe, there is less than a degree difference. It's nice to know it's accurate as well.
