Updated Spirit grills for 2025

You're only partially correct. Weber is to blame. Back in the 80s they set incredibly high standards for mid priced gas grills. And I have high standards for what I expect for the $$$. Am I unreasonable? IDK, but I see products like Napoleon producing higher standards products for the $$$ spent by the customer. I want to see something that "stands out" from everything else. Adding gadgets isn't cutting it for me
I have little interest in a new gas grill, but if I had money to throw around and room to have yet another one, I still think I would take a nice Weber Genesis over Monument, Napoleon, etc. That's not at all to say those companies don't have excellent grills. It is more a reflection of my personal taste. I also consider myself a "Weber guy" even though I will call them out from time to time. Kind of like how people used to be "Chevy guys and gals" even though Chevrolet didn't always deliver - even in the glory days of the 50s and 60s.

I think almost all new grills are designed with a 5-year horizon for replacement. That just goes against those of us who love the rugged classic Weber grills. Even back then, Weber stubbed their toes such as with a dumb firebox on the otherwise wonderful 1st generation Summit that you and I have had the privilege of sharing ownership. Now that it seems to be well corrected with the stainless reinforcements (still working fine after two years), I can't think of a new Weber I would trade it for. But could I enjoy cooking on a new Genesis or Summit? For sure!

Going back to the new Spirit grills, I think the 4-burner might be fun to cook on. I haven’t seen one in person yet, but as long as you accept the “5-year horizon aspect” the pictures and descriptions actually look pretty good to me.

I know some may feel the “sear burner”- now “sear station” is just a gimmick. I personally really liked using it on the Genesis 335 I used to own.

If the target lifespan were actually true then why would Napoleon include lifetime warranty? I threw Monument in there not because I think they're on the same quality tier. They absolutely are not. I tossed them in because from a "functionality" standpoint they offer just as much as Weber does, in a relatively well made but low priced offering. Basic idea being spending the extra $$ on Weber really doesn't buy you "functionality over and above going a decent but decidedly lower priced route.
Anyway I wasn't trying to "flame" anything in particular but simply point out, at least with Napoleon you do get better functionality, a better overall product, a much better warranty for not a whole lot more $$$. Or you could save a great amount of $$$ go with the lower priced spread and lose nothing in functionality.

Retail theft!

However, I do think you bought an E-310 and not an E-210. Even better deal.

Where do you live that you are paying almost 10% sales tax?

Sorry it was a E-310 when I picked this up...the new models were on display and they are similar to the series 1 with folding side tables made of enamel steel.

Honestly I don't see it. If it proved to be the best for the $$$ then sure. but when other choices exist, that can and IMO do present better choices for the $$ I say product name is not important. But again we all have opinions on things, and things we value in a product. And even though I've been buying and using grills since long before a lot of our members here were born and honestly mostly Weber. But, I just feel like Weber is banking on people simply "following" the brand regardless.
But again it's what makes us all valuable for sharing thoughts and ideas

If a giant redwood fell and smashed all my grills, and I was forced to buy a new one, I wouldn’t have it in me to buy anything but a Weber. They’ve been in my blood since I was a child.

what about aliens?

I used to look up in awe of this massive curve shaped grill, stored on a pulley system in the garage of my grandparents house as a 6 year old kid. Seeing my dad use a smaller one standing on its own legs but in the same shape in my back yard. Then a few years later seeing this monstrosity of a square thing with a tank next to it.

When I purchased the house I live in from my grandparents estate, the same house that I looked at a ranch kettle hanging in the garage in for years of my youth, my dad gave me a blue performer as a house warming gift.

Then as the years passed I learned about my grandfather selling Weber kettles and starting a Memorial Day Chicken BBQ benefiting his American Legion Post (while using free promo grills from Weber), which is now a major fundraiser for our local chamber of commerce.

Then stumbling upon a Genesis being pushed to the curb while driving a summer school bus, which has introduced me to this page and group of amazing folks.

It’s in my blood… I’m a Weber guy.

So, this actually happened to my old Performer a few years ago... though it was an ash tree, not a redwood. Thankfully, it mostly hit the cart and the kettle was still salvageable! XD

If I could only have one grill it would be an easy choice for me. Genesis 1000

Out of the 22 gas Webers I currently have 12 of them are x000 grills in different stages but all usable grills. This isn't counting 3 incomplete parts grills. I have acquired all of them and all the parts, paints and supplies easily from cash earned flipping newer Weber grills. So I can appreciate both the old ones and the new ones different reasons.

There are newer Weber grills that I currently have and use and some that I have sold that have worked really well also

In these scenarios am I still allowed to pick up more free or cheap Genesis x000 grills and restore them adding high quality SS parts in the cookbox to make more grills that will outlast my lifetime?
While continuing to flip newer Webers to people who don't know any better to build up more cash to buy more Genesis x000 grills.
Or use the saved money to buy a side of beef.
