I think Harry Soo jumped the gun an put out a video. I'm not sure, but it looks like it's the Thermopen 1. It's a 1 second instant read thermometer. I was wrong thinking it'd get a USB charging port. It's got a better battery compartment to make it more waterproof. It has the same feature as the Mark 4 but faster.
 

Ah, I bet you are right! That explains why they were having so many sales on the MK4 models that past few months. Clearing out inventory for this new model.

Looks cool, like that the display swaps between portrait and landscape depending on how you are holding it. Still, I don't think I'll be splurging. I've got like 5 BBQ thermometers that all work, would be hard to justify another.
 
That new thermapen does sound pretty cool! However, with 2 thermapops & 1 MK4 it would be hard to justify getting the new version. So I'll pass for now.

For those who already have the MK4, and are considering an upgrade, a better option might be to wait a few months for the open box sales?
