I've had the 18.5" for over 10 years, just got the 22.5" on Friday. This is its maiden voyage. 2 pork shoulders and a brisket in the smaller one, 6 racks of ribs in the larger.

As an aside, the eBay seller I ordered the 22.5 from didn't ship it for almost 3 weeks (despite me telling her I absolutely needed it for a cook today) and zero communication, so I ended up having to get this one with one day shipping From Amazon on Thursday. Of course the first one shipped shortly thereafter and will be here next Tuesday. Not sure what I'm going to do, sell it locally or keep it as a backup.

CONGRATS =)

Ebay smoker- DONT even open the box, send it right back and ask for your $$$ back throught Paypal ( I hope u used PP ). That should
do it right there.

3 weeks? Yeah, I'd argue that one with ebay/paypal also
I love my 22 and plan on adding an 18 at some point - just because. :D

I used Paypal. Delivery is outside the promised date window and was sent from a location other than what was stated in the listing. Seller accepts returns but the cost of shipping it back will be ~$80, and getting that refunded will be a major battle even though all the facts are on my side.

Just went out to check temps and lo and behold, the pork shoulders and brisket were done - internal temp of 200. Pork shoulders were 10 lbs each, brisket was 12 lbs. Put them on 9PM last night, so 13.5 hours. Ribs went on at 8AM, so will foil them in a few minutes.

Just sliced into the brisket. It didn't come out so great. The texture is weird, hard to describe, more like pork shoulder than brisket, a little dry around the edges and a little mushy inside. Wife bought this brisket from a local farm - organic and grass fed, so there was very little fat cap or marbled fat, and the fat in grass fed beef is a little different overall. Will have to be sure to get regular cow next time.

Complain to Ebay and calmly lay out the circumstances. They have been known to send buyers a return shipping label and make the seller pay for it.

Neg the nitwit seller and give them the lowest DSR ratings you can.

i agree. No way should you have to pay shipping to return. That is not good business. Good luck , I hope you win.

Open a case with ebay. The stipulation that the buyer pay for return shipping only applies if the seller meets their end of the agreement which did not happen. Once a case is open there will be documented back and forth written discussion between you and the seller which ebay is monitoring. Point out where the seller did not meet her end of the agreement, ie. date purchased, date shipped. Take the high road. Be professional. Do not let emotion enter into the discussion. You are covered by ebay's Buyer Protection. There does not seem to be any reason they will not decide in your favor. Your ultimate goal is to get a pre-paid return shipping label from the seller. Ebay will make sure your paypal account is credited for the cost of the smoker.

Do not give negative feedback until the case is settled. Do not mention possible negative feedback unless the seller brings it up. The potential for negative feedback may prove to be an additional motivating factor for the seller.

After 15 years with ebay I recently won the only case I have filed. The seller was listing one item and no longer had that item to sell. Rather than relist he sent a lesser item. I kept the item which was my choice. Ebay took from his account and credited my account an amount that I had stated would be fair. In your situation I would accept nothing short of a pre-paid return shipping label and a full refund of the purchase price.

I'd say good luck but I don't think you will need it.

Enjoy your new smoker!
