Honestly Chicago born and raised kid, lived in the city until 1988, before moving out to the "hinterlands" of Woodstock IL. (for affordability) but seeing what all parts of Chicago have become glad we did. Because even the Jefferson Park neighborhood we lived in back then where we felt TOTALLY safe even walking around at midnight to go out for a late night ice cream at the parlor near Austin and Lawrence, we never felt any fear. Today there are numerous drive bys, and random acts of extreme violence, property damage, break ins and so on. Good we got out when we did. And quite honestly I have no intentions of going back even for a visit. Not until some sanity returnsWow!
