Like others on the forum, we smoked pork for Thanksgiving. We were supposed to be at the neighbors' house by 1 PM on T-Day, so I had to start the night before. After lighting the charcoal (Minion method with some cherry wood), Surfer Dude caught pics of me assembling the smoker, so I'll just post one or two.
And here I am again filling the water pan.
Now the better-looking stuff: butts rubbed and on the smoker.
Smoker in business and doing its thang!
The boys stayed up most of the night monitoring and mopping. Next morning, pork is about 160 with a few hours to go, but looking good.
Shortly after that, the d*&^n door handle broke.
I was able to keep the door on there good enough to finish the smoke, but I was unhappy! So here it is 5:30 AM PST, and I'm calling Weber customer service. Amazingly, Thanksgiving morning, a nice lady named Jennifer answered. I told her I needed a new handle. She asked a few questions and told me (I knew this, but had forgotten) that they sell door and handle together, not just a handle. Roughly $16. Fine with me, put it in the mail. A few minutes later, she said, "you know what, I'm just going to cover it under warranty." OK! Amazing Weber customer service again. New door should be here in 10 days or so.
Anyway, back to the pork; fast forward to 11 AM, 14 1/2 hours later, pork is finally done.
About to come off the WSM.
I didn't get plated or pulled pics, but it was really good!! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
