SWMBOs Birthday

Mrs K's birthday was today. We're having a date night this weekend, but I wanted to make her a nice dinner tonight. I thought for sure she'd ask for chicken and cheese enchiladas (her go-to request). But she surprised me and wanted grilled filet and asparagus. Um, OK. I can do that.

Started by crushing some fresh garlic and making a paste. Then added some Herbs de Provence, olive oil and S&P. Rubbed the steaks down with that.

For me, wrapped some 'gus in provolone and prosciutto. The rest was marinated for SWMBO in some vinaigrette.

Steaks were grilled over lump, I added some wine soaked oak cubes leftover from my winemaking hobby.

Finally, it was all plated up with some penne, sautéd with red peppers and 'choke hearts.

Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday!

When it comes to birthday meals, it can't get much better than that! Superb photography of incredible looking food, Jim.

WOW!!! That is one fantastic B dinner for Mrs. K!! Like the sides for sure. Hope you day was great Mrs. K and enjoy your date night this week end.

Happy Birthday to the Mrs., I know she enjoyed that. Jim tell me about the Gus wrap, did you cook them or steam them some first?

Thanks all! Pretty simple prep on this one, but sometimes that works best. :)

Bill,

Just wrap and roast. I cook 'em indirect when doing them this way. No seasoning needed at all. The oils and salts from the cheese and prosciutto do the trick nicely.
