Strange food pairings.

Peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches were a staple when we were kids. Nobody seems to like the idea, but most that try it love it.
My wife's apple pie is REALLY good as well except for one thing. I wish she could do differently. She has to use butter in the crust instead of lard. It is good but oh boy I'd love if she could use lard
Miriam was a purist when it came to pastry. After many years, I finally got her to use half butter and half lard in pie crusts.

The issue for her is a pork allergy. Not the taste. When we first got together she would eat pork (occasional chops and bacon) but every time she would become sick. She didn't put 2 + 2 until one day mentioning it to the doc. They ran an allergy test and found there is a compound in pork and oddly enough the same compound in salmonoid fish that she's quite allergic to. Helluva curse

I figured as much.

Of all things to be allergic to, a pork allergy would suck. I'd starve to death.

That stinks.

Many years ago, back in the days when I supposedly "didn't inhale" I'd "not inhaled" WAY too much. Came home and had the weirdest craving for ice cream with green martini olives in it. Well let's just say that did not stay where it was supposed to be. Quite "colorful" really :D

That's funny as heck, Larry!

My dear sir, I'll happily live vicariously through your experiences and take your word for it.
