SS Performer

I have an SS Performer that I purchased new around 2003. Recently purchased a new Performer Deluxe. Once the weather breaks, I plan to clean up the old Performer, install a new ignighter and new grates. Not quite sure what to do with the old grill once it's all cleaned up. Sell it? Donate it (but to whom)? Give it away? Open to ideas.

There's always someone looking for a performer. Unless you have a good friend or family member you want to donate to I would sell it to recoup some of the cost of the new one. Take the money from the sale and buy some meat.

If you are realistic with your price you should have little trouble selling The SS Performer. Only problem is you might wind up missing it:smilekettle:!

Give it a 2" lift kit and keep it. Imo the SS Performers are built like a tank compared to the newer ones.
Just my 2 cents.

Dang Jeff! That is a bad a** looking performer. You mind posting a close up of how you did that? Assuming most the lift is coming from the tire size.

Dave,
You will have no problems selling it on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. You should be able to get $100 for it easily. You could also try posting it on here or the Weber Kettle Club forums, and try to sell to a Weber enthusiast. Where are you located?

If I were you, and you had the room, I'd keep it and maybe buy a pizza cooker attachment for it and use it to make pizzas. Or like others mentioned, give it to a relative that'll take care of it.

If you aren't going to use it then I would just look at selling it or donating it to someone who would appreciate it. Unless you just enjoy a clean up project you probably won't get your time or money back out of doing a new igniter and etc. Then someone can do what they want with it. Sometimes people like to raise them up a few inches as they are taller. Others like to lower them because they intend to make them into a smoker rig. Let them make the choice.

I posted and old build for the big wheel Performer but the photos did not work with the new TVWBB format.
Here are some pictures of the build and what i used, the second time around i used alumunimum square tubing .....no rust.

Any questions, i can help you out.. Sorry for the late response.

Jeff, that looks amazing. I have the same grill, but actually just listed to sell it. I came across a newer one that I really like. If for some reason I’m not able to sell the grill for what I’d like for it, then I’ll have to talk the wife into letting me keep it. Then I’ll lift it up like you did.
For the square tubing, did you secure that to the framing or does it spin around with the axle?

Looked at the pictures a little more closely. Looks like once you place the square tubing inside the frame legs, tightening the nuts should keep the square tubing in place.
Bad a$$! I’m going to be doing this in a couple weeks or so

If you have a WSM, put it in place of kettle. Now mobile WSM.

I did this I extended the lower shelf using square tubing and expanded metal screen .
It puts the WSM at high height gives you a work table and the coal bin can hold charcoal and wood chunks. Now you can move it around much easier.
