Small Shorthorn brisket flat

Blues Hog briqs look pretty ordinary in person.
Haven't burned any yet, but they're standard size, with grooves, and made in Mexico. Feel a bit lightweight too.
No cooks tonight, or tomorrow, maybe Michael Richards will and give a review.

Bob,
Do the briquettes in your bag have grooves. Just opened mine and took a picture in bad lighting, but these don't have any grooves.

No outdoor cooking tonight, but I will be trying it out tomorrow. I will come back here after that.
I am not completely happy to see it is made in Mexico, but texture, shape, and density is closer to Weber than anything else I have bought.

Here are way too many pictures of Charcoal 😜. Along with the Blue Hog I also picked up a bag of Royal Oak All Natural.IMG_20210306_132445.jpg

I took this pic this morning.
Blues Hog far left, Kingsford blue bag center, and Royal Oak Chef's Select far right.
If I get ambitious, I'll weigh a few of each, but I don't think there would be much difference.
PS, I've contacted Blues Hog asking why the difference, grooves and no grooves. No reply yet.

Maybe the new Blues Hog is being sourced from a different manufacturer? If someone has an older bag it would be interesting to know the country of origin.

About the new Blues Hog charcoal.
I sent them a photo of what the grooved ones look like in my bag, and the un-grooved ones they show on their FB page. Their reply:
"Thanks for the photos. We will try to get to the bottom of this. Stay tuned."

not sure what "jonzing" is but if it's what i think it is, Weber in my opinion makes the best briquettes or did, why not try to find something as good if not better...?
I agree with your comment, I was merely making an observation. I have heard good things about B & B All-Natural Oak Hardwood Charcoal Briquettes, but I have yet to try them.

I guess I would consider myself lucky, as I am still sitting on at least a dozen bags of Weber & probably 2-3 dozen bags of Stubbs that I scored a couple of years ago.

don't mean at all to sound condescending...
seen b &b at ace, never heard anything about it... however, stubbs to me was VERY disappointing. bought so many bags after hearing how great it was, i sold it all for 5 bucks a bag.
and all royal oak stuff is junk to me.

man, i really hate talking charcoal.
Bob, who brought this up?
