Although the valve spacing is different, it might still be a good pickup for the hose and the valves themselves as replacement parts. What do people think of that idea?

Valves are different as well. Will not interchange
That’s a bummer to hear. Do you know why the valves will not work? The stem is too long?

i thought it might work based on grillparts selling a replacement valve for the silver B and the 1000. See this:

The seller did send me measurements of the manifold and I compared them to mine. Here are the differences:

Silver B manifold:
Valves - 6" apart
Bracket holes - 6" apart
Length of bracket - 8"

1000 manifold:
Valves - 6.5" apart
Bracket holes - 6 3/8" apart
Length of bracket - 8"

Very close. Wonder why they made a minor change like this? Was it worth it?

It is because they made the decision to drop from 13 flavorizer bars to 5. That resulted in a shallower firebox where the burners sit slightly closer together. Overall, it was a cost cutting move as 8 more flavorizer bars I guess do really add up over thousands, maybe even a million, grills.

The valves on the 1000 are threaded into the manifold (pipe thread). The valves on a Silver are retained by a screw through the manifold.

I can see this saving big money for Weber.

Interesting. I can see this be labor saving as it's easier to operate a screw gun instead of screwing a valve into the manifold. Probably no need for pipe dope.

The valve stems are much shorter on the Silver B over the 1000 as well.

Ok. I have a Weber NG gold that I bought for $50 but has been sitting in my shed for a few years. Need to get rid of it, I think since I rather stick with the 1000 line I have. Not sure if I should try to sell it as-is to recoup my money or try to get some parts from it and scrap it. Will have to think about it.
