Silly Question (Probably)

This may sound like a dumb question but I am doing m first rib cook today (yes there will be pics). After getting the coals going and adding the wood and meat there was some heavier smoke but then it settled down and I was getting some good TBS. Now I notice that there is no visible smoke coming out of the vent. The temp is stable and there is still plenty of wood. Is it unusual to not see any visible smoke?

Nope! Once the fire settles in and the coals and wood get hot enough, the smoke (and steam) isn't visible. It's time for an adult beverage and relaxation.

I agree. I've used some of his tips previously. He's always given me greay advice and has been very kind to this newbie.

No smoke it didn't happen...No wait that's pictures, no smoke is okay if you can smell it it's really good.

The white billowing Smoke is cold smoke. Chunks have not get the right temp yet and if you put the meat in too early you get an off taste.
I ususally start the fire at least 1 h (maybe 1,5 h) before I put the meat in. At that time no more white smoke in my WSM.
it has got to steady smoking temp that could be 250F or 275F (I'm becoming hotter and hotter)!

Thanks Enrico. I've been looking at your posts about you ribs and have gotten some great advice that I used on my first rib cook yesterday b
