Recommendations for name brand sauce that has no heat

My kids LOVE bbq that I make, but they always say its too spicy. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a name brand sauce that had no heat to it (really at all), or a good recipe. They like all the flavors (onion, garlic, tomato, brown sugar, etc.) just no heat.

Anyone know or have experience with kid friendly sauces that are still good?

Wife and I like Sweet Baby Rays, but that is too hot for the kids.

Thanks

There are Sweet Baby Rays that are mild. I think the honey is the mildest, but I'm assuming you are using the hot and spicy. You might want to try one of these:

# Sweet Baby Ray's Original
# Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey
# Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory & Brown Sugar

There is a really good one that is kind of difficult to find called "Chicken 'N' Ribs"

It is very mild. My nephew can't stand ANY heat and he loves this sauce. All the adults love it too. Nobody can believe it when I tell them what it is. They think it is my own home-brew mix.

They also make hot.

My wife and I are partial to "HEAD COUNTRY"... Its from OKLA, dont know how available it is in other parts of the country...

Here's a sauce I use for ribs. It started as a clone recipe for Tony Roma's sauce. It isn't hot, but you could easily omit the Tabasco.

1 c ketchup
1 c apple cider vinegar
1/2 c dark corn syrup (I substituted ¼ cup light corn syrup plus ¼ cup molasses)
2 ts sugar
1/2 ts salt
1/4 ts garlic powder
1/4 ts Onion powder
1/4 ts Tabasco sauce or your favorite hot sauce.

1. Combine all of the ingredients for the barbecue sauce in a
saucepan over high heat. Use a whisk to blend the ingredients until smooth.

2. When the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer uncovered.

3. In 30 to 45 minutes, when the mixture thickens, remove it from the heat. If you want a thicker sauce, heat it longer. If you make the sauce too thick, thin it with more vinegar.

Bone Suckin' Sauce is allright. I like SBR better though. I can't believe it's too hot - I detect very little heat in the original SBR.

Any of the Sweet Baby Rays but out of them all I like the honey mustard the best. Bullseye is pretty good too. I'm not that picky when it comes to BBQ sauce though. I use BBQ sauce on things alot of times instead of ketchup.

I like original Head Country as well. It's starting to creep up this way, too.

The Piggly Wiggly by me carries the Roadhouse line of sauces. Southern Sunset is fairly spicy but the others aren't bad.

Kraft with honey or KC Masterpiece is pretty tame also.
Our Granddaughter also doesn't like a lot of heat, but she loves those.

Head Country Original all the way for me too.

I'll cast another vote for "Sweet Baby Ray's"

This one is easy to find in Wisconsin

No heat at all - sweet & tangy

It even makes a good base if you want to "doctor it up".

One of the things I always do is keep a half rack completely unrubbed for my granddaughter. Young childrens' palates are uncaloused and easily burned unless they live in a culture where everyting is hot. Some kids do like it, but for many heat just burns.

So, keep a rack or as much as you need unrubbed and find that mile sauce, or just forgo sauce altogether. That's my advice.

I you can find it,try Sticky Fingers. The Memphis Sweet is pretty good. The Carolina is a tangy mustard based sauce, with no heat. HTH

When my daughter was little, everything seemed "too spicy" for her. That's just the way I cook. We'd cater to her tastebuds mostly, but eventually she developed a taste for it (loves curry to this day). In fact, on her last trip home from college, she took a bottle of sriracha back with her!
