Updated our travel map and sticker collection of campgrounds and points of interest we’ve been to in our 7 1/2 months of travels
The travel map gets a sticker if we’ve slept there overnight View attachment 119734View attachment 119735
Made it back to Charlotte today. We did add some states to the travel map- LA, MS & AL

Busy week ahead. We’re getting vaccines tomorrow, getting a new awning on Wednesday and going to see mom and get our mail. Daisy included
Thursday,we’ve gotta get up way to stinking early and take our camper to the dealer so they can diagnose, and hopefully repair, our slide that’s not working 🤬, and Pammi has a doctors appointment
Friday, Pammi has another doctors appointment, but not too early 😂
Saturday, hopefully having breakfast with my 2 main dudes here!
Sunday, new tires on the BAT, and, hopefully ,another Panther’s win!
Monday, we’re taking our time heading up to New Jersey for my dad’s 95th! Taking 9 days to get there!

So, I went to the local TSC to get some propane for the camper. I went inside to get some potty pads(for the pups) and some ratchet straps and to pay for the propane
There was a customer ahead of me wearing a 2nd Infantry Division cap, the same division I was in over in Korea many moons ago
I complimented him on the hat and we got to talking about old times
After he paid, he reached into his back pocket and handed me a koozie! He said that he always carries them in case he runs into a fellow vet
He also invited me to his veterans group this evening, but we had dinner plans with our main 2 dudes this evening!IMG_7248.jpeg
Thanks random vet! 🇺🇸

If I read something unusual or not covered by the mainstream media I post it here.

I understand most won’t see it the same way, but definitely random and off topic…

In a lecture Monday, he encouraged an audience to continue working toward scientific progress, whether in artificial intelligence or other forms of technology. Fearing or regulating it, or opposing technological progress, would hasten the coming of the Antichrist, Thiel said, according to people who attended.

One thing I believe is that smart or not, successful people have a knack for seeing things that everyone else either misses or also see but don’t have the power of conviction to act.

I myself wake up every day and thank God for everything this world has to offer. When anyone asks me how is my day going, my answer is “best day ever”. I do this to remind myself how fortunate I am and when things don’t go my way, saying those words help get back to center. Needless to say, if the anti christ moved in next door, I wouldn’t let it bother me.

God’s will be done!

I was talking to one of my young coworkers on this subject and I told him as far back as can remember, there is always some public figure talking about the end of the world, the anti christ, yada yada yada. None of it has come true as of today and I doubt Peter Thiel has any insider information on the subject, lol.

Just went to Tractor Supply to get propane
I went inside to pay and they’re already playing Christmas music!!!!
WT?!?!? It’s the middle of October!
At least wait until November! 🤬🤬

That may not be a bad thing, given the current state of affairs. It might be a good idea to get your Christmas shopping done early this year.

A family member is looking at buying a newer used car, and of course I'm willing to help.

It sure looks pretty...

However an internet search of the VIN turned up this pic on an auction site.

edit: Seller indicated there was "minor damage" that was repaired.

Wow, that's late. My Lowe's was tricked out for Christmas over a month ago and the Halloween merchandise had already been stuffed in a corner of the store.

My brother works at Lowe’s and said that they’ve had their Christmas stuff out since September
And I was in Hobby Lobby about 5 or 6 years ago and they had their Christmas crafty stuff out in July!
But I was talking about playing Christmas MUSIC in their store today! Mid-October!

It’s been a long week and a rough couple days
We were in New Jersey for my dads 95th birthday, and my 3 siblings stayed with us in our camper. Love them, but it gets tight quickly!
Tuesday, my dad fell getting into my sisters car. They got him up ok, but he obviously didn’t feel like errands anymore. Imagine that!
My sister left to go home to Maine and my dad decided to take a nap. He called out about 5 minutes later and said that his back was hurting and wanted to go to the urgent care
His wife is 91, and has gotten lost driving around once or twice, so I offered to drive them
Went to the urgent care, and they got him back pretty quickly. However, they came back out within about 5 minutes, saying that he needed to go to the emergency room. They were afraid that he might have a head injury and/or internal bleeding from the blood thinner he takes
Luckily, that was less than 10 minutes away
Dropped them off and parked the car. They took him back pretty quickly again. My MIL kept coming back out to give me updates. I told her to just text me them. I in turn kept my siblings updated
They did some bloodwork and then a CT scan
I’m texting Pammi and the siblings as soon as I got an update
About an hour after the scan, my MIL came out and said that he was fine and free to go home!
By now, it’s going on 9:30-ish and it’s dark. I’m very glad that I decided to drive, as the two nonagarians were in zero shape to drive!
I slept in a bit the next morning, but not too late. Did some packing at the camper, then had to go to dads for some repairs and a final cocktail hour. Yes, he has a sip or two of whiskey each afternoon and a non alcoholic beer with dinner. He will occasionally have a nightcap too
I fixed a couple tiles in their shower, put stuff back up where I’d taken it down before the storm that blew through, fixed the closer on their storm door so that it would latch and aired up all 4 of the tires on their car
Then it was a final cocktail hour on this trip 🥃
Up before I wanted to the next morning as it’s a travel day. But only about a three hour drive, so not too bad
Checked in at the campground and parked the camper. Got it nice and level and set up and was relaxing finally. Got up after a bit to walk the new pup. She went sniffing around the back side of the camper when I saw the reservation tag on the spot we were in. It had a week and a half worth of dates and it was a different site number. Yikes, I was in the wrong site! 😳🤬
I had just enough cell service to call the office. Yep, I had to move my camper! Can’t just change stuff in the computer (I did ask nicely)
Oh well, found a local restaurant nearby and as soon as I had the camper moved and set up and the pups inside, we went.
It was a local brewery that had an amazing menu! Steak, pasta, fish & chips and when I saw the shepherds pie, I knew what I wanted! Guess what? They’re having a musical guest that night, so VERY limited menu! 🤬😮
At least the beer was tasty! 🍻😂
Back home, a little TV another beer or 2, and Phil was in bed!
Puppy boy let me sleep until 7, and other than going for propane and lunch, I haven’t moved far from my recliner today!
Chores tomorrow, but this was a well earned rest day!
Sorry for the long rant!

What will happen in a later model vehicle like that one that's been involved in a crash of that magnitude is that the air bag(s) go off, and increasingly insurance companies will total the car out because of the liability and safety aspect of repairing a factory-installed safety system. A flipper will buy the vehicle and cut the deployed airbag(s) out of it and patch it together for sale at an attractive price. Some states (like CA) assign a salvage title to those kinds of vehicles.

Yeah I bought a Toyota Highlander for my daughter to drive. IIRC a 2006, with a 4 banger and AWD. It really had been well cared for. Engine ran like top, very clean internals with good oil change and service intervals. But it had been crunched in the right front. The guy I bought it from was a flipper but honest about it. He even showed me all the bad parts he'd taken off it and replaced. And it had a salvage title. I got it so cheap I did not care. There had been no air bag deployments so IMO the car was safe. It had one nagging issue I could never solve (due to the little crunch). The wiring from the ABS system was not correctly repaired so ABS and TPM did not work. Easy enough on the TPM a piece of black tape on the display. But the ABS/TCS issue meh. basically it was driving a car not equipped with those things.
Honestly the only issue it had was the original owner never rotated tires. Anyone who knows anything about the Highlanders with the old full time AWD systems (no clutches purely mechanical) knows tire mismatch especially side to side. Well I guess the guy stuck 2 worn tires on one side and 2 better ones on the other. Well down the line it blew the front differential. Still operated just noisy. But it was otherwise a very solid car

We bought an used truck (from a dealership) at the end of last year after we spent a couple months shopping, looking for a truck equipped the way we wanted. There is an active and thriving market in our area for used cars and trucks as the price of new vehicles continues to rise. There are many, many people that derive a supplemental income from flipping cars and trucks. I had one deal last year where I answered a local ad, the guy was just minutes away from me, and I had made arrangements via text to meet with the guy the next day during daylight hours and all of a sudden the line went dead...the guy stopped responding to my texts about time and location. The next day that same truck was posted in a different city for a $3k markup...not bad money for not doing anything except making a drive. Eventually the flipper dropped the price and made a sale at half of that markup, $1.5k, but again, not bad money for being in the right place at the right time. Snooze and lose, the one that got away and all that, oh well, fold up the money and put it back in the pocket and keep looking. It's not the only game in town, but eye-opening all the same at how hot the market is (and it's gotten worse in 2025, glad I bought when I did).
