After I'm done with the axles I spray them with clear coat.Anybody spray the large steel axel with rust reformer? It was covered in rust and I sanded it all off. It rusted again immediately - I’m also thinking of using a galvanizing cold spray but not sure if that is the right thing to use
Like a clear coat enamel spray? Would that hold up well in a high humid environment? After I'm done with the axles I spray them with clear coat.
Rust-Oleum 2X clear. I get it at Home Depot. It holds up as well as any of their paints.Like a clear coat enamel spray? Would that hold up well in a high humid environment?
Well, it looks like acetone is a thinner for Rustoleum HH Ultra paint. I imagine you can let it dry and repaint it as is.
I take the rails off and clean them up really well and the screws also. Since the rails come from the factory unpainted I leave them that way. I screw the screws back into the box before painting the bottom side highlighted in red.
It's definitely not going to hurt to do it any other way though if you choose to.
I don't see that it would hurt anything. If you want the rails to be painted it might be easier to take them off to do a nicer job though. So it would be fine to just paint that area rails and all?
Cool thanks, The rails were easy enough to removeI don't see that it would hurt anything. If you want the rails to be painted it might be easier to take them off to do a nicer job though.
