Quick partial disassembly of Weber genesis 1000


 
Personally, I would use an adapter, probably a 45 of some sort, just for a little extra room for wrenches. Also remember to use tape/dope on those fittings (not saying it like a jerk, just as a concern).
 
That's interesting. I have this spare Genesis 1000 manifold and the fitting for the regulator is on the side of it instead of the bottom like yours. View attachment 121824
Yeah, I have another 1000 I fixed up and gave to my father. The intake hole is just like the one in your picture. Also on the how to video for changing a regulator on the 1000 posted here it shows the hole on the side as well. That’s what made me wonder what is more typical.
 
Oh yeah, that would make total sense. I actually briefly tried that but could not find wrench thin enough. Found a small crescent wrench that would work just now actually, oh well next time. So I guess this bottom location is not too uncommon?
