Hi everybody,
My name is Pleun Vermeulen - don't even try to pronounce that! - my international friends call me PV. In real life, I'm a high school maths teacher and together with my buddy Ivor (also a highschool teacher biology) we are the BBQ team "BBQ meesters" (litterally means "BBQ masters", in Dutch "masters" is synonym for "teachers"). In 2015 we participated in a TV show called "Grillmasters" (sponsored by Weber) and nation TV. One of the judges was Jord Althuizen (Smokey Goodness, world champion whole hog 2014) and a famous Dutch chef Herman den Blijker (see picture below).
Our gear: 3x WSM22 1x WSM18, 1x WSM14.5, 1x miniWSM (based on SJ), 1x OTG26, 2x MasterTouch22, 4x Smokey Joe, 1x WGA. For KCBS competition, we use 2x WSM22, the WSM14.5 and the WSJM14.5. The TV show gave us some nice spin-off and even though we're into BBQ purely for fun, we became Weber certified demo cooks last Friday (Ivor left, me right):
Besides work and family (lovely wife and 2 kids, 12 y.o. daughter and 7 y.o. son), I have many hobbies. I like to work on and ride my '87 HD Sportster 1100, I'm a licenced (cw included) ham radio operator (callsign PA3HHO) and at the moment play in 3 bands; upright bass in www.yeeehaa.nl (outlaw country), guitar and vocals in www.messaround.nl (40s jump n jive) and www.bugabootang.nl (rock-a-billy-blues on steroids). Here's a picture of the BBQ Meesters, on the left (the skinny one) is Ivor, I'm the one on the right. I've already read many articles on this great forum so I guess it became time to register and become a member.
Kind regards,
PV
