Inside of end cap off of a red head.

Need to test a fire box next.

This stuff is not good for paint. Will have to test that as well.

Well, that looks promising. Keep us posted.

Do you have a link to the product?

Here's a link to the gel version: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009EC4Q3W/?tag=tvwb-20

Fine print on Amazon: Gel version not for sale in Utah and California! Y'all can't handle the power of gel! :D

Active ingredients: METHYL ALCOHOL 67-56-1, DICHLOROMETHANE 75-09-2, AROMATIC HYDROCARBON 108-88-3, ETHANOL 64-17-5, ETHANOL, 2-BUTOXY 111-76-2, AMMONIUM HYDROXIDE 7664-41-7

It also comes as an aerosol, maybe overspray onto paint would be an issue. But available in UT and CA.

2nd that.

Please give us the full run down. How much was applied?
Wait time? I still see a lot of carbon left on the edges, What
is that all about? Did you apply to those areas? Will the remainder
come off on a 2nd application?

Very interested in this!
I am not a fan of using the ol' angle grinder / cup brush combo.
Would be nice if this stuff was sold locally.

When I was reading the reviews someone said that they picked it up at a restaurant supply store, worth a shot to give them a call if you have one around.

Wow. I did the angle grinder thing on mine and was covered from head to toe in black crud afterwards.
That's the worst. Plus you get those metal pointy shards all over the place; in your clothes, on the floor, lodged in your exposed skin, and you'll find them weeks later in the most odd places. I started doing my grinding in the far back area of my backyard where the grass doesn't grow in the woods.

With the ammonium hydroxide and volatile compounds, this sounds like a high strength oven cleaner. I would be very very careful about any direct body contact, eyes especially.

Hi Ed, Do you have the inside of a porcelain enamel lid on the test schedule? The cost for gel
is probably OK compared to aerosol products like Easy-Off

Thank you Bill

I've always just used Simple Green and a straight razor blade to clean the inside of a porcelain lid and on kettles. Works well.

I bought a quart a while back to clean some cast iron grates. It was so expensive I kept putting off its use until eventually the grates rusted out. That's one way I guess.

I just ordered 32 oz bottle from Amazon. Hoping it will do the trick. Supposed to be here this weekend. I'll give it a try on a Genesis I'm cleaning up to sell.

Hi Kyle, I use the same process but with Easy Off and it works well. I am looking to save time and at least soften up the carbon to make the scraping go easier.

2nd that.

I just sprayed the interior. Didn’t want to get near the outside edge and paint etc.

So far I’m happy. I got 2 spray cans. It foams just almost like easy off. I’ve got 2 high end grills to clean in the next 2 - 3 weeks and I think this going to cut my cleaning time quite a bit.

I just did a lite spray on the end cap.

I am going to test a portion of the inside of a firebox, inside of enamel lid and a small exterior spot that would be under the end cap this evening or tomorrow

I’m going cover a cast iron grate stick it in a bag overnight as well.

After 30 seconds to a minute on a test spot on the exterior of a fire box. It did strip the paint.

After a test shot on the end cap from yesterday it came out shiny aluminum.

Another test was on the exterior of a red head. It did not seem to affect the porcelain at all. I did a small spot but I’d err on the side caution.

I need to do a better test on the interior of a fire box.

Wire brush the crud off then apply. I did see a few small spots that showed aluminum.

Sorry don’t have time to post pics. Early work day tomor row.

The fact that it seems to strip the factory paint (powder coat) from the grills is intriguing in itself. If that stuff will strip a Q grill lid, that would be awesome.
